Union City, CA · $30 – $38/hour (+ shift differential) · 2+ years Reports to: Production Manager / Lead Machinist About This Role We're adding an evening shift to meet growing demand. As a Second Shift CNC Machinist, you'll set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision aerospace, defense, and medical components. You'll work with the same modern equipment and tight tolerances as our day crew — plus earn a shift differential on top of competitive base pay. This is a hands-on machining role. You'll run programs, perform in-process inspections, and maintain quality standards on every part. We're a startup, so there's no slow shift here — you'll be running real production with real accountability. The evening shift is smaller, which means more machine time and more autonomy. Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes for production runs Load programs, set tool offsets, and verify first articles Perform in-process dimensional inspections using calipers, micrometers, and gauges Maintain tight tolerances on aerospace and defense components Monitor machine performance and report any issues Complete production paperwork and quality documentation Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Communicate shift handoff notes to the day crew Support preventive maintenance on CNC equipment Meet daily production targets while maintaining quality standards Requirements 2+ years of CNC milling or turning experience Ability to set up CNC machines including work-holding, tooling, and offsets Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings Basic understanding of G-code and M-code Strong attention to detail and quality mindset Reliable attendance and punctuality (critical for shift work) Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Preferred Qualifications Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes Familiarity with aerospace materials (aluminum, titanium, stainless steel) GD&T knowledge (ASME Y14.5) Mastercam or basic CAM software experience Previous experience on an evening or second shift Competitive pay: $30 – $38/hour + shift differential Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Overtime opportunities available (time and a half) Professional development and cross-training opportunities Modern CNC equipment (modern CNC equipment) Startup culture with performance bonuses and growth opportunities Additional Information Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, second shift (approximately 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM).
