Structural Heart RN Coordinator (CLIN NURSE 2)

The CN identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as resource to other members of the nursing team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies. The primary responsibilities for this position consist of providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties; and adhering to University policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local regulations.
Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. Provides direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills. Demonstrates accountability for own practices as defined by the Nurse Practice Act. - American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing .
- 5 years of RN experience .
- 3+ years of recent procedural RN experience (Cath Lab, EP Lab, OR) OR 3+ years in an inpatient unit with experience caring for cardiovascular patients with 3+ years recent experience in telemetry .
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately.
- Knowledge of current trends in nursing.

- 3+ years working in a Cath lab/EP lab/OR/Nurse Coordinator
- 3+ years critical care experience in a cardiac ICU/cardiac step-down unit
- Pre and post procedural experience

provides care to all ages, performing diagnostic and complex coronary interventions, structural heart procedures, and vascular interventions. Department Specific Job Scope Clinical nurses in the Heart and Vascular Center at UC Davis Health provide care to the adult patient with a variety of medical (medical surgical, critical care, emergent, perioperative/procedure) needs. The Heart & Vascular Center Nurse Coordinator is a CN II position and provides care coordination, education, and resources for the interventional cardiology patient population across the continuum of care in collaboration with patient care services, interventional radiology, Emergency Department, and the ambulatory Clinic and other medical and surgical services, including outside services. Participates in the development and review of policies, procedures, and protocols of new and existing vascular surgery services. The Nurse Coordinator develops relationships with interventional cardiology patients prior to discharge, oversees the discharge process, and is a resource for discharged patients. The Nurse Coordinator participates in quality improvement and service improvement. Applies experience and judgement to determine the importance of a situation, sets priorities, and uses abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Demonstrates leadership skills.
