Details\n \n Acute care setting in a Level 1 Trauma Center ICU \n Position covers Surgical ICU (Trauma Neuro Surgery) and Medical ICU (Medical Cardiac Overflow) units \n Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts \n Nurse to patient ratios of 1:2 or 1:1 \n Cerner EMR used for charting \n RNs required to titrate drips including Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, morphine, dilaudid, ketamine, rocuronium, levophed, vasopressin, cardene, labetatol, dopamine, dobutamine, heparin, and insulin \n RNs required to interpret their own telemetry strips using GE monitors \n 24/7 in-house Hospitalist or Intensivist and RT coverage \n RT equipment includes Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPap, and Airvo \n Self-scheduling available with manager balancing for unit needs \n Weekend requirement of 3 shifts per 4-week schedule (night shift weekends are Friday-Saturday, day shift weekends are Saturday-Sunday) \n May have up to 1 holiday off during the assignment \n No standing call or standby requirement, though low census may occur up to 3 times per contract \n Float requirement to telemetry unit with 1:3 or 1:4 ratio as needed, with expectation to float between all 3 ICUs (SICU, Medical Cardiac ICU, and overflow ICU) \n Requirements\n \n Active AZ or Compact RN license required \n BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required \n Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required with no exceptions \n Experience must include either neuro or CV specialty \n Charge nurses do not take patients \n UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48 hours prior to acceptance of position, with a maximum of 2 attempts \n Pass/fail Sim Lab required on Day 1 of orientation \n Copy of driver's license required for consideration \n Additional Information\n \n Care for Level 1 trauma patients including falls, GSW, blunt trauma, MVAs, and trauma patients over age 15 \n Handle surgical cases including ex-lap, crani, and specialty neuro-surgery procedures \n Manage diagnoses including CVA, status post-TPA, COVID, sepsis, and ARDS in SICU \n Medical ICU handles sepsis, COVID, DKA, flu, and ARDS cases \n CVICU handles on and off pump CABG, valves, post caths, TAVR, IABP, Impella, ECMO, Tandem heart, and esophagectomies \n No nurse aides on unit; support staff used only for sitters and as Health Unit Secretary \n Skills validation provided for trauma, neuro, and specialty devices as needed \n Navy scrub color required \n Unit-specific orientation is 1-2 days \n First-time travelers welcome to apply with required 3 years of experience (including 2 years in ICU) \n Level 1 trauma or neuro experience preferred but not required \n Prior experience in a similarly sized ICU unit preferred \n Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility \n Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-associated facility, including CHI and/or Dignity, within the past year \n \n \n American Traveler Job ID P-749335.
