Anesthesiologist
Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group
Job Description
Job Description
Our organization is on the lookout for board-eligible or board-certified anesthesiologists to become part of our general anesthesiology faculty. We seek collaborative individuals who are passionate about teaching residents, committed to mission-driven healthcare, and eager to work in a supportive environment where teamwork is valued.
The PracticeAs a part of our health system, the general anesthesiology faculty provides care for adult patients across a wide range of specialties at a Level I trauma center, two surgical specialty hospitals, and a busy outpatient surgery center. Additionally, they offer obstetric anesthesia for the labor and delivery unit at our children's hospital. Faculty members may rotate among various locations. A typical week encompasses a diverse array of surgical procedures, including abdominal, orthopedic, vascular, neurosurgical, ENT, urologic surgeries, trauma cases, obstetrics, and anesthesia for non-operating room patients, whether they are healthy or have complex medical needs. Resident supervision is generally at a ratio of 1:2, with CRNA supervision ranging from 1:2 to 1:4. Those interested in regional anesthesia can participate in the acute pain service. Clinical assignments are intentionally varied, and faculty members wishing to focus on specific areas of interest will receive support.
The FacultyOur faculty members support one another, engage in open consultations, and collaborate on challenging cases. New faculty are paired with experienced mentors, and leadership within the department is approachable and values input from all faculty. We are looking for physicians who embody this spirit: stepping in to assist a colleague after a long day, providing help during complex procedures, and willingly taking on additional cases as needed.
TeachingMany of us chose academic practice because of our residents. Faculty are responsible for supervising and educating residents in the operating room, during didactic sessions, and through simulation training. The quality of our clinical training is reflected in our graduates, who are highly sought after by both private practices and academic institutions. We seek faculty who find this work fulfilling and who maintain high standards while demonstrating patience.
AdvancementOur health system is an academic institution with an anesthesiology residency program, fellowship opportunities in adult cardiothoracic anesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, regional anesthesia and acute pain medicine, liver transplant, and critical care, as well as an active clinical research initiative. Faculty members can progress along a defined academic pathway with support for promotions, and leadership roles are available in areas such as resident education, quality and safety, perioperative medicine, regional anesthesia, research, and departmental administration.
CompensationThe anticipated total annual compensation ranges from $462,000 to $562,000. The starting full-time base salary is between $450,000 and $520,000, adjusted based on experience and faculty rank. Total compensation may exceed the base salary through variable and productivity-based incentives as outlined in the department's compensation plan. Faculty members interested in additional work can increase their earnings through incentivized clinical duties, extra shifts, and on-call responsibilities. Specific details will be discussed during the recruitment process.
Our benefits package includes:
- Generous retirement contributions
- Comprehensive insurance options: medical, dental, life, short-term disability, and long-term disability
- Competitive vacation and sick leave
- Funding and days for continuing medical education (CME)
- Relocation assistance (if applicable)
- Paid malpractice insurance
- Federal loan repayment options (if eligible)
