Associate Behavioral Health Counselor | Mobile Crisis

Overview Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is an on-call Behavioral Health Counselor position with a flexible schedule. Shift details: on-call, with potential for overnight, weekend, and some holiday work. Location options may include Roseau County or Pennington County in Minnesota. This position does not require a college degree but must meet criteria for a Mental Health Practitioner as defined by Minnesota Department of Human Services. This is an on-call role with compensation described as a salary range of $22.50 - $36.00 per hour. Responsibilities Assess patient needs and develop treatment plans; implement interventions tailored to individual needs. Continually assess patient progress and revise treatment plans and interventions accordingly. Document treatment sessions and provide patient progress updates to the interdisciplinary team as needed. Educate patient support members about patient issues and interventions as appropriate. Refer patients for additional clinical services or to specialists when needed. Stay current on emerging issues in the profession. Work in a variety of settings with duties varying by setting (clinic, hospital, community, residential). In clinic settings, conduct scheduled face-to-face counseling sessions to assess and improve emotional, mental, and behavioral health. In hospital settings, participate in psychiatric inpatient treatment and/or specific hospital unit duties (crisis intervention, assessment, referral). In community settings, coordinate and provide treatment for patients with severe and persistent mental illness; support daily living, social, and self-regulation skills. In residential settings, coordinate and provide treatment for higher levels of care; perform assessment, individual and group counseling, program development, and coordination with a multi-disciplinary team. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in behavioral sciences or related field preferred; completion of practicum or internship. In Minnesota, must follow Minnesota State statute defining Mental Health Practitioner. At least 4,000 hours of supervised experience delivering services to persons with mental illness, substance use disorders, emotional disturbances, traumatic brain injury, or developmental disabilities; orat least 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours in behavioral sciences with at least 2,000 hours of supervised work experience in related services.
