Preconstruction Manager - Washington D.C.

Who We’re Looking For We’re seeking a motivated Preconstruction Manager with 8 years of estimating experience focused on mechanical construction projects. The primary responsibility is to manage, in collaboration with the Project Executive, the successful completion of assigned Preconstruction projects. The Preconstruction Manager leads project financials, risk management, and client relations, and commits the firm on schedule and cost matters within approved parameters. What You’ll Do The new Preconstruction Manager acts as a key leader in the entire work acquisition process, including management, coordination, and delivery of the preconstruction phases of the project and extensive client contact. Preconstruction Managers produce progress estimates at design milestones, evaluate material and system costs, review progress and coordination documents, build and maintain subcontractor and vendor relationships, perform detailed take‑offs and estimating, define bid package scopes, and oversee the subcontractor/supplier bidding process. They must work efficiently in a fast‑paced, multi‑task environment with multiple project relationships and competing priorities. What You Bring To The Table Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or a related field 8 years of estimating experience with a concentration in mechanical construction projects Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices Conceptual ability to work with minimum information and quickly develop an understanding of the client and architect requirements Demonstrated imaginative, innovative, and succinct approach to a project Excellent oral and written skills Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite Strong attention to detail, well organized, diplomatic, and discreet when handling confidential information Ability to work in a fast‑paced and team‑oriented environment Some travel may be required depending on business needs What We Offer Salary Range: $135,000 – $170,000 and an annual discretionary bonus Free medical, dental, and vision insurance for the employee, with 75% cost sharing for family coverage including a domestic partner Tuition reimbursement, 401(k) matching 20 days of PTO per year, flexible hybrid remote working arrangements, and the latest technology and tools to do your best work Opportunity to make an impact on a diverse team with decades of professional experience MCN Build is an equal‑opportunity employer with a culture that promotes diversity.
