1. General job duties: The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) is a hospital-wide float department that serves the ER, ICU, PCU & Med Surg service lines. This position is responsible for caring for a wide range of patient populations as a member of the NRT, maintaining a high level of adaptability and understanding in each unit. The NRT is a float resource department where nurses work in a variety of care areas hospital wide. This department requires nurses to be efficient with time management and flexible in working with a variety of teams throughout the various units it supports. Typical float areas for a tier 4 float RN include, but are not limited to, medical-surgical, progressive care, the emergency department, and critical care units. Promotes optimal health, well-being and safety through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, and the Idaho Nurse Practice Act. Provides relationship based care as demonstrated by recognizing the patient, family and/or designee as a full partner in providing compassionate, coordinated and culturally competent care based on respect for patient’s preferences, values, and needs. Engages fully within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Integrates best current evidence into clinical practice and uses data to monitor and improve the outcomes of care processes. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making. 2. Required skills, minimum years of experience, and/or education: - Graduate of a nationally accredited Nursing program (BSN or ASN accepted) -Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience within the last 2 years at a Level I or Level II Trauma facility. -There is no set timeframe for their PCU/MedSurg experience requirements, but they must have some prior experience working in or floating to PCU and MedSurg and feel comfortable with those ratios. -There is no set timeframe for their ER experience requirements, but they must have some prior experience working in or floating to ER where they have taken a patient assignment. They will be expected to care for ED pod patients and care for ED or boarded patients. Will be expected to be able to take a true ER patient assignment. - Experience with cardiac drips - Experience with non-invasive ventilation 3. Required licensures, certificates/registrations, and/or life support certifications: - State of ID (or compact) RN license - AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS - Restraint C (during Kootenai Essentials) - MOAB-8-hour class KBH/YA (will be covered in general onboarding) - Boundaries 1-hour module (will be covered in general onboarding) - Dept. of Health & Welfare Background Fingerprinting is required 4. Scheduling: NRT float RNs and traveler RNs have a consistent schedule and know when they work; the unit RNs will receive a message 2 hours prior to their shift, telling them on which unit they are assigned. This is a Float Pool position. Must float to ER, ICU, PCU & Med Surg. Can float mid-shift, if needed. 5. Bed size/number of rooms for this unit/dept.: - 21-35 beds, depending upon the unit in which they are working 6. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit: - ICU: 1:1-2 - Med/Surg & ED boarded Med/Surg: 1:5-6 - PCU: 1:3-4
