Clinical Pharmacist - GI Clinic/Oncology Ambulatory (Full-Time/Hybrid, 8-Hour Day Shifts)

Full‑time, 8‑hour day shift in a Hybrid setting at GI Oncology . Location: PALO ALTO, 875 Blake Wilbur Dr, California. A Brief Overview Provides the full range of distributive, clinical, consultative, research, investigational, and/or administrative pharmaceutical services. Incumbents select, compound, manufacture, purchase, dispense, and preserve drugs, medicines, and other therapeutic agents; serve as a member and consultant on treatment or diagnostic teams; disseminate drug information to hospital staff and community groups; and may participate in hospital research projects or perform pharmaceutical research. What you will do Clinical Pharmacy: Apply knowledge of solubility behavior, drug stability, usage, administration limits, and incompatibilities to evaluate dosages, concentrations, and chemical reactions. Apply knowledge of the physical and chemical properties and characteristics of drugs to prepare dosages, weigh and measure medicines, and mix and compound drugs and chemicals. Have legal responsibility for proper interpretation of prescriptions and dispensing of prescribed products; alert physicians to synergistic, antagonistic, cumulative effects, questionable overdoses, or incompatibilities. Identify fine differences between drugs as they relate to therapeutic efficacy. Maintain awareness of new developments in the drug field and emerging patterns, systems, and techniques in pharmacy practice. Maintain records, document patient data, prepare written reports, and provide oral reports concerning patient care. Contribute to accredited teaching programs, induction, and refresher training courses. Specify proper storage, protection, and preservation of therapeutic agents in accordance with the standards of the United States Pharmacopoeia (U.S.P.) and the National Formulary (N.F.). Investigational Drug Service: Assist in the coordination and maintenance of pharmacy services related to research at SHC. Participate in sponsor site qualification and initiation visits. Support practices related to pharmacy dispensing based on IRB‑approved clinical trials. Guide investigational drug service pharmacy technicians. Attend meetings to provide pharmacy input on drug protocols. Act as liaison between the study team, protocol sponsor, and nursing to coordinate drug therapy. Participate in audits by sponsors, FDA, DEA, NIH, and other regulatory agencies as needed. Education Qualifications Bachelor’s in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university. Experience Qualifications Two (2) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. One (1) year if completed a PGY1 residency. Understand local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, therapeutics, pharmacokinetics, and disease states. Knowledge of methods and procedures for proper handling and storage of pharmaceutical supplies. Knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pathology, chemistry, and mathematics related to pharmacy practice. Knowledge of prescription and non‑prescription drugs, indications, efficacy, dosage, mechanisms of action, contraindications, and side effects. Licenses and Certifications CA Board of Pharmacy License – Registered Pharmacist required. BLS – Basic Life Support required within 30 days. ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 30 days. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on various factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
