Lead Painter

The Lead Painter oversees daily operations in the paint shop while working hands-on to refurbish lift equipment and ensure high-quality finishes. This role leads and assists the paint team with blasting old paint, applying new coatings after repairs, and operating electrostatic and air-assist paint systems as needed. The Lead Painter supports production planning, quality control, and continuous improvement, while also contributing to hiring, training, and employee support within the department.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of experience with industrial painting in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and coordinate a paint department team.
• Hands-on experience with industrial painting processes, including paint prep, blasting, and application.
• Proficiency operating electrostatic and air-assist paint guns and related paint systems.
• Knowledge of paint department workflows, materials, equipment, and production processes.
• Experience with supervision and oversight of daily shop activities.
• Experience with scheduling and managing workflow in a production environment.
• Experience with quality control related to paint activities and finished products.
• Ability to perform paint mixing and use spray guns, airless systems, and paint shop equipment safely and effectively.
• Computer literacy, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal employees at all levels.

Work Environment

The role is based in an open-air shop environment focused on refurbishing lift equipment. The regular schedule runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with the expectation of overtime as business needs require. Overtime may include extended hours Monday through Friday until 4:30 p.m., as well as mandatory Saturdays and/or Sundays, typically from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., depending on production demands. The work involves regular use of industrial painting equipment, including electrostatic and air-assist paint guns, spray guns, airless systems, and paint mixing tools, within an active production setting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.50 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
