Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Contract (13 or 20 weeks) | Full-Time | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / Telemetry unit managing a patient population that includes sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical cases (urology, abdominal, ortho)
• Initiate, titrate, and monitor drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
• Perform telemetry interpretation and pass required tele competency testing upon placement
• Float within skillset as needed, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum of 2 hours notice
• Adhere to every third weekend and every other holiday rotation requirements
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires as this is a teaching facility

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 solid year of Step Down / PCU experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment required
• Current active compact RN license required
• Active AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Demonstrated ability to interpret telemetry and manage drip initiation and titration

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with PIV insertion, stable home vents, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, blood product administration, continuous BiPAP, and neutropenic precautions
• Familiarity with stable drips such as Lasix and Protonix
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment
