Propel PSU Operations Coordinator

Position Summary The Propel PSU Operations Coordinator creates the operational foundation that allows four distinct innovation units — the Center for Entrepreneurship, the Portland State Business Accelerator, Innovation & Intellectual Property, and the Metro Region Innovation Hub — to function effectively and cohesively within a shared facility. This full‑time position reports to the Assistant Vice President for Innovation and is the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day financial transactions, human resources coordination, event planning and execution, and building operations across the Propel PSU organization. Primary Responsibilities Financial and HR Management (30%) – Serves as the primary point of contact for day‑to‑day financial management and operations across all four organizational units, ensuring accurate processing, recordkeeping, and reporting in compliance with organizational policies and applicable regulations. Events Management (30%) – Plans and executes events for all four organizational units, from small internal gatherings to large community‑facing programs, coordinating a broad range of logistics from initial concept through post‑event wrap‑up. Building Operations (20%) – Acts as the primary operational liaison for the physical facility, maintaining systems, aesthetics, and infrastructure that support all units housed within the building. Scheduling and Administrative Support (10%) – Provides light scheduling support to leadership and coordinates across units to ensure meetings, recurring obligations, and shared resources are organized efficiently. Special Projects (10%) – Supports organizational priorities and leadership initiatives that fall outside standard operational functions, demonstrating flexibility and problem‑solving across a wide range of contexts. Work Environment & Schedule This in‑person, on‑campus role operates in a fast‑paced, customer‑facing environment with frequent interruptions. Some evenings and weekends are required. The position is open to full‑time employees with a start date that is negotiable. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 2 to 4 years of professional experience within a functional area related to financial, HR, events, or facilities management. Microsoft Excel skills required. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with and managing organizational budgets. Fiscal transaction experience. Experience planning and executing medium‑sized events (up to 150 people). Strong interpersonal skills. Experience with building or office operations. Benefits & Compensation Salary is dependent on several factors; new employees typically start at the Q1 level for later growth within the salary band. The starting annual salary range is $58,596 – $69,140, with possible negotiation above this range based on experience and department budget. Benefits include 95% premium‑paid health care, a generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employees, spouses, or dependents at any Oregon University System school.
