Duties

The Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHS) consists of two inpatient campuses located at Little Rock and North Little Rock, Arkansas. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)

Specific Pulmonologist and Intensivist Duties

• Diagnose, treat, and manage patients with pulmonary diseases according to accepted standards of care.
• Perform outpatient consultations for pulmonary disease.
• Provide inpatient consultations for pulmonary disease.
• Perform invasive procedures for which s/he has been trained and granted privileges.
• May admit ICU patients, as the primary attending for patients with pulmonary diseases and critical care medicine disorders including management acute respiratory failure requiring mechanically assisted ventilation, management of COVID-19 pneumonia and ARDS, management of sepsis and shock, and others
• Interpret pulmonary function tests.
• May participate in Clinical education in the Division of Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine.

Administrative Duties

• Serve as medical director of the medical ICU.
• Participate in the educational programs for the ICU unit personnel as well as the medical staff.
• Participate in monitoring the quality, safety and appropriateness of patient care.
• Attendance at committee meetings.
• Participate in developing and updating policies and procedures specific to the ICU.
• Demonstrate ethical conduct and serve as a positive role model to others at all levels of the organization.
• Participate in quality assurance programs and chart reviews.
• Attend Medical Service staff meetings.
• Complete medical records in accordance with Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff.
• Participate in Medical Staff committee assignments.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Chief of Pulmonology and Critical Care.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm
