TMCI is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect who combines enterprise architecture, full stack application development, cloud engineering, data architecture, and next generation AI solutioning in one highly capable, hands-on role. This person will set technical direction and personally build working solutions. The successful candidate must be able to move from an ambiguous mission problem to an architecture, prototype, production-ready approach, and executive presentation without depending on a separate engineering team to perform the core technical work.

This is not a management-only or advisory-only position. The Senior Solutions Architect is a hands-on technical contributor who personally architects, develops, integrates, tests, and demonstrates solutions. This role does not replace TMCI's specialized full stack, data engineering, data quality, or DevOps positions. The architect works directly alongside these specialists, contributes working code and technical components, validates end-to-end solutions, and ensures the individual disciplines operate as one cohesive architecture. The role will strengthen delivery across current programs, generate reusable solutions that help TMCI perform better, faster, and more cost effectively, and shape technical approaches for organic growth and new business.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

• Personally designs, codes, integrates, tests, demonstrates, and improves applications and prototypes, while also directing the broader technical strategy.
• Creates secure, scalable, modular, cloud-portable, AI-ready solutions that can adapt to different customer technology stacks, policies, budgets, and mission priorities.
• Uses AI-assisted engineering and agentic orchestration responsibly to shorten delivery cycles, improve quality, automate repeatable work, and reduce unnecessary staffing or tooling costs.
• Earns credibility with engineers, program leaders, and executives by translating complex technical choices into clear mission, cost, schedule, risk, and business outcomes.
• Identifies cross-program opportunities, develops reusable capabilities, and turns delivery insight into organic growth, prototypes, technical win themes, and customer-ready demonstrations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:

Hands-On Solution Architecture and Application Development

• Own the end-to-end technical solution from discovery and architecture through hands-on development, integration, deployment, demonstration, and transition to delivery teams.
• Personally build full stack applications, services, APIs, integrations, data workflows, automation, proofs of concept, production-quality prototypes, and critical solution components using modern engineering practices.
• Work directly with full stack engineers, data engineers, data quality analysts, DevOps engineers, cybersecurity professionals, and program leaders to deliver complete solutions. Perform meaningful hands-on work across these areas while recognizing when to leverage deeper specialist expertise.
• Make practical build, buy, reuse, and integrate decisions based on mission value, speed, total cost, maintainability, security, and delivery risk.
• Diagnose difficult technical problems and step into the code, infrastructure, data, or integration layer needed to resolve them.
• Establish reference architectures, reusable patterns, technical standards, roadmaps, and design guardrails without becoming tool-specific or creating unnecessary complexity.

AI Agentic and Next Generation Engineering

• Design and build solutions using generative AI, large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, multi-agent or agentic orchestration, workflow automation, tool use, evaluation, observability, and human-in-the-loop controls where appropriate.
• Apply AI-assisted coding and software delivery tools to accelerate requirements analysis, development, testing, documentation, modernization, troubleshooting, and secure delivery.
• Evaluate emerging technologies quickly, separate durable capability from hype, and convert promising technology into secure and supportable customer outcomes.
• Design for responsible AI, including security, privacy, data protection, model and prompt risk, traceability, evaluation, governance, and compliance.
• Advance semantic metadata, data quality, lineage, lifecycle management, auditability, and AI governance readiness so trusted data can support analytics, automation, and AI use cases.

Cloud Platform and Enterprise Architecture

• Create end-to-end architectures spanning applications, data, cloud, infrastructure, networks, cybersecurity, identity and access management, enterprise integration, DevSecOps, and operations.
• Design cloud-native, hybrid, and multi-cloud solutions. Transfer architectural and engineering skills across AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, private cloud, on-premises, and secure enclave environments rather than relying on one vendor ecosystem.
• Design loosely coupled, modular, portable solutions using APIs, containers, orchestration, infrastructure as code, event-driven patterns, distributed systems, and modern application architectures as appropriate.
• Design secure, scalable data platforms using relevant patterns such as lakehouse and medallion architectures, distributed processing and SQL engines, modern table formats, semantic layers, metadata management, and governed data products.
• Build resilient architectures that can scale up or down and remain useful when customer funding, policy, scope, priorities, or mission needs change.

Program Delivery Technical Direction and Organic Growth

• Serve as the technical director and thought partner across TMCI programs and projects while respecting the program manager's accountability for program execution.
• Learn each program's mission, architecture, commitments, risks, and customer environment, then identify practical ways to improve performance, quality, speed, reuse, and cost.
• Lead solutioning sessions and enterprise design reviews; identify gaps between strategic intent, contract requirements, and technical reality; and recommend executable paths forward.
• Anticipate technical inflection points and help teams reframe or repackage capabilities when programs pause, pivot, expand, or re-scope.
• Identify, shape, prototype, and present solutions that expand existing work, solve adjacent customer problems, and create reusable company intellectual property.

Customer Growth Capture and Executive Communication

• Engage directly with customer executives, architects, technical teams, and program stakeholders as a credible, responsive, and practical technical leader.
• Present architecture, prototypes, demonstrations, tradeoffs, roadmaps, risks, and recommendations clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences at the executive level.
• Partner with Growth and Capture from opportunity qualification through proposal submission, oral presentations, demonstrations, and technical interchange meetings.
• Develop technical approaches, solution architectures, estimates and assumptions, implementation plans, technical win themes, discriminators, proposal content, and customer-focused solution narratives.
• Constructively challenge assumptions when evidence indicates a better path and translate complex technology into clear mission and business value.

Security Governance and Federal Mission Alignment

• Embed cybersecurity, zero trust, privacy, identity, least privilege, resilience, governance, and compliance into solution design from the beginning.
• Design within federal security and delivery requirements, including RMF, secure enclaves, controlled data, auditability, and agency-specific constraints.
• Align technical execution and proposed solutions with applicable SOW and PWS requirements, customer architecture, operational needs, and evolving Government direction.
• Participate in Government architecture working groups and represent TMCI's technical position with credibility, preparation, and discipline.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE:

• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent directly relevant experience where permitted by contract requirements.
• Work Location: Hybrid, Mclean, Virginia, or within the continental United States.
• Work Schedule: Predominantly Eastern Time (EST) business hours to support customers and geographically distributed teams.
• Typically, 10 or more years of progressive technology experience, including substantial responsibility in solutions architecture, enterprise architecture, software engineering, platform engineering, systems engineering, or technical solution design.
• Recent, verifiable hands-on experience personally designing and building applications, integrations, data solutions, automation, or prototypes. Experience limited to supervising or directing others who performed the technical work is not sufficient.
• Strong full stack software engineering foundation across user-facing applications, backend services, APIs, data persistence, integration, testing, source control, CI/CD, and deployment. Depth may be stronger in selected areas, but the candidate must work effectively across the complete solution.
• Demonstrated ability to architect and implement secure enterprise solutions involving multiple technical domains, such as cloud, applications, data, infrastructure, cybersecurity, identity, integration, networking, and DevSecOps.
• Practical experience with modern AI-enabled solution development or a strong record of rapidly mastering comparable emerging technologies and applying them in working solutions.
• Cloud architecture and engineering experience with at least one major cloud platform, plus demonstrated ability and willingness to transfer skills across AWS, Azure, GCP, private cloud, on-premises, and customer-specific environments.
• Strong understanding of APIs, distributed systems, modern application architecture, enterprise integration, cybersecurity principles, architecture patterns, technology roadmaps, and tradeoff analysis.
• Ability to translate ambiguous mission and business needs into an executable architecture, working prototype, delivery approach, and clear recommendation.
• Excellent written, verbal, facilitation, demonstration, and executive presentation skills, including the ability to influence decisions across organizational boundaries.
• Strategic adaptability, sound judgment, curiosity, and comfort operating in ambiguity while balancing innovation, mission need, cost, schedule, security, maintainability, and organizational realities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND DIFFERENTIATORS:

• Master's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, engineering management, business administration, or a related field.
• Experience supporting U.S. federal customers, especially DoD, military health, VA, DHS, IRS, DLA, or other highly regulated mission environments.
• Experience designing and implementing production solutions involving LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, orchestration frameworks, model evaluation, AI observability, responsible AI, MLOps, or LLMOps.
• Experience with data platform patterns and technologies such as lakehouse or medallion architectures, Spark or distributed SQL, Trino, Iceberg, Delta, data products, semantic metadata, lineage, and federated governance.
• Experience with containers, Kubernetes or equivalent orchestration, infrastructure as code, event-driven architecture, microservices, zero trust, platform engineering, and automated DevSecOps pipelines.
• Demonstrated capture and proposal experience, including solution shaping, technical writing, estimates, staffing assumptions, prototypes, demonstrations, oral presentations, and development of technical win themes and discriminators.
• Track record of creating reusable capabilities, improving delivery across multiple programs, supporting organic growth, or helping win new work.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect, CISSP, CCSP, or comparable technical credentials. PMP and ITIL 4 are valued when paired with strong hands-on technical capability.
• Active US Government or DOD security clearance.
