Certified Music Instructor

The Certified Music Instructor is responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality music instruction that engages youth in creative expression, musical skill development, and performance-based learning. Working under the supervision of the Club Director, this position provides structured music programming that promotes creativity, collaboration, self-confidence, and artistic achievement.

The Certified Music Instructor develops and leads music education activities, rehearsals, performances, and showcases that support the Club's overall youth development mission while fostering an inclusive, engaging learning environment.

Leadership

• Model the mission, vision, ICARE values, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay; and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and program documentation as required.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor for Club members.

Program Instruction and Skill Development

• Plan and deliver structured music instruction aligned with educational standards, program goals, and youth development best practices.
• Provide instruction in music theory, vocal performance, instrumental music, music technology, and music production.
• Integrate various musical mediums and technology into learning experiences to encourage creativity, innovation, and skill development.
• Design age-appropriate lessons and projects that support artistic growth, self-expression, and cultural awareness.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of diverse learners.
• Provide instruction in music fundamentals, performance techniques, composition, and music production.
• Facilitate vocal and instrumental rehearsals and support the development of individual and group performances.
• Teach music technology, recording techniques, audio production, and media integration as appropriate and guide youth in creating original music and collaborative performance projects.

• Excel in customer service to effectively communicate with Club members, staff, and visitors to include parents, volunteers, or other community members.
• Build positive relationships with youth members that support social, emotional, and developmental growth.
• Create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, respect, and cultural appreciation.

Collaboration and Partnerships

• Assist staff members in the absence of others, work on some weekends and/or extended hours for special events and/or programs or support other Club locations within a reasonable geography.
• Maintains daily contact with Club Director, Club staff, members, and families.
• Demonstrates the ability to collaborate and effectively work within and across teams to accomplish our organizational goals in support of our Mission and each other.

Safe and Positive Environment

• Prioritizes member and Club safety through active supervision and adherence to policies and procedures.
• Actively participates with members and collaborates with colleagues to create a positive environment with clear and respectful communication.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Valid State Teaching Certification required.
• Degree, certification, specialized training, or demonstrated expertise in music education, music performance, music production, or a related field.
• Minimum one (1) year of teaching or youth development experience preferred.
• Must complete required DCF trainings in allotted time.
• Successfully complete organization sponsored CPR training within 90 days of hire.
• Must be able to pass a Level II background screening and drug screening through one of our vendors.

Travel

Travel may be required to multiple Club facilities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Pinellas counties for training and professional development or other business purposes.
