The Shift Leader is a high-visibility, "player-coach" role responsible for the direct supervision of personnel and workflows during a designated shift. Reporting to the Assistant Manager of Operations, you are the primary driver of floor productivity, ensuring that safety standards, production quotas, and outlet retail targets are met in real time. This role requires a leader who is comfortable working alongside the team while maintaining the authority to delegate tasks, solve immediate operational hurdles, and ensure the seamless flow of goods from the loading dock to the sales floor.

Starting Pay: $18.10 per hour

Essential Job Functions:

• Assign specific tasks to warehouse and production staff to ensure sorting, grading, and baling targets are met and CPC production goals are achieved.
• Lead by example by assisting with "bottleneck" areas, such as clearing conveyor jams or helping with heavy salvage loads.
• Perform regular spot-checks on sorted goods and baled textiles to ensure they meet quality and weight specifications for salvage buyers.
• Conduct "pre-shift" safety huddles and ensure all team members are wearing required PPE and following equipment safety protocols.
• Perform daily inspections of forklifts, balers, and tippers; lockout/tagout any malfunctioning equipment and report issues immediately.
• Document any near-misses or accidents immediately, ensuring the Assistant Manager is informed of all safety-related events.
• Supervise the rotation of inventory bins in the Outlet store to ensure a "fresh and full" shopping experience for customers.
• Coordinate the loading and unloading of trailers, ensuring that drivers are processed quickly and that all paperwork (bills of lading) is accurate.
• Ensure the work area is kept clean, organized, and free of debris throughout the shift.
• Complete end-of-shift reports detailing production volumes, any staffing issues, and equipment status.
• Assist in the "on-the-job" training of new hires, focusing on safe equipment operation and organizational sorting standards.
• Address minor staff or customer disputes on the floor, escalating more serious issues to the Assistant Manager.
• Consistently opening or closing the facility on time and ensuring all shift-change protocols are followed.
• The ability to explain complex sorting or safety rules to team members in a way that is easy to understand.
• A natural drive to keep the "line moving" and hit production goals without sacrificing safety or quality.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Perform other duties and projects as required by management.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 12 years of experience in a warehouse, production, or retail environment; prior experience as a "lead" or "senior" associate is preferred.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator Certification.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Must be 21 years old.
• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License, required.
• Must pass MVR check and maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to speak, read and write the English language.
• Reliable transportation and communication, required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong understanding of warehouse flow, basic D.O.T. dock requirements, and industrial safety (OSHA) standards.
• Proficient in basic data entry for production tracking and the ability to operate all warehouse machinery (forklift, baler).
• The physical stamina to stand and move for long periods and the mental agility to manage shifting priorities on a loud, busy floor.
• Good basic math skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Ability to complete and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications

Physical Requirements:

• This work is physical and requires the following activities: Standing, walking, twisting, bending, grabbing and reaching for long periods of time; occasional squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing, and visual acuity.
• The ability to push, pull and lift up to 50 pounds, or more with assistance. Must be able to maneuver 200 pounds, pull utility carts on wheels on and off trucks.
• Employee is required to operate a computer.

Work Environment:

• Works in warehouse environment and will be exposed to airborne particles such as dust, mold, dirt and pollen as well as extreme heat and cold.
• Work environment is typically steady with occasional high stress.
• Moderate-high noise level.
• Must be available to work during operating hours as needed for business operations. Work schedule may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and black periods which may vary from week to week as well as occasional overtime when approved by management.
• Works 40 hours per week or more when required.
