Position Title:

Material Handler II / Driver 

Position Summary:

Responsible for ensuring cost-effective, efficient, and safe transportation and receipt of goods. Ensure that materials shipped and received are verified against pertinent documentation such as bills of lading, purchase orders, and invoices. Coordinates and communicates with the Production Manager on all areas and facets of shipping/receiving, throughout the day, to ensure that all issues and customer service needs are being met.

Essential Job Functions:

1. Follow all established quality management system procedures and work instructions as applicable
2. Issue purchase orders for the outside process
3. Track lost and/or customer claims of lost shipments, initiates proof of delivery documents
4. Ensures product identification, handling, packaging, storage, and protection of all parts in area
5. Communicates with vendors and production control to monitor outside processes. Responsible for maintaining inventory and shipping materials, packages, and identifying parts
6. Delivers finished product to the customer
7. Issues and distributes material for production jobs
8. Prepares shipment for postal or commercial conveyance; determines the most cost-effective and efficient shipping method; selects appropriate shipping container; and is responsible for proper packaging to ensure safe delivery
9. Prepares bills of lading, checks items to be shipped against work orders to ascertain that quantities, destination, and routing are correct
10. Receives and unloads incoming materials, compares packing slip information with the purchase order to verify shipment accuracy, and verifies proper paperwork and documents. Then also documenting all certifications of hardware and material
11. Process return shipment from customers, for example, RMA’s
12. Inspect shipments for damages or defects, record discrepancies or damages, and notifies supervisor and/or purchasing personnel
13. Willing and able to work overtime, including weekends when needed

Knowledge & Skills:

1. Must be proficient in MS Excel and Word
2. Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork
3. Ability to sort, check, count, and verify numbers
4. Ability to receive, track, stock, and distribute materials, supplies, and equipment
5. Use basic measuring tools accustomed to this trade
6. Simple arithmetic
7. Knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods and procedures
8. Records maintenance skills

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent, three (3) years of work-related experience

Physical Requirements:

Stooping, crouching, reaching, walking, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, repetitive motion. Must be able to lift 45 lbs. Must have close visual acuity. May be subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust.
