Overview Financial Aid Advisor (2 positions available) Location: Padron Campus Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 1008803 Department: Financial Aid Reports To: Director Closing Date: November 23, 2025 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt First Review Date: October 1, 2025 Job Details Job Family: STAFF - Support Non-Exempt (SNE) Grade: 12 Salary: $22.95 - $27.45 What you will be doing Analyzes/interprets federal, state and institutional policies and eligibility Reviews/evaluates student data and supporting documentation to confirm accuracy and determine eligibility for federal, state and district grants, scholarships and other financial assistance programs Resolves conflicts between applications for aid and supporting documentation Interprets federal and state income tax returns as they apply to student eligibility Adjusts student and parent data at the DOE-Central Processor services Informs and advises students/parents regarding availability of funding sources, application process and procedures, rights and responsibilities related to student financial assistance Delivers financial aid workshops, training sessions and other activities on or off campus Applies and monitors the student financial assistance academic progress policy to determine continued eligibility Coordinates the review and delivery of specific Financial Aid programs for the campus Trains/provides work direction to student workers and other personnel as assigned Assists the Campus Director in developing and improving program policies Assists in a variety of special projects and programs Serves on college committees (e.g., Standards of Academic Progress Committee, Campus or College-wide Scholarship Committee) Conducts Stafford loan exit interviews and workshops to reduce Miami Dade College Stafford loan default rate Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of related experience All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures Knowledge and experience in current federal and state financial aid policies and procedures Ability to acquire and exhibit comprehensive knowledge of complex Federal, State and Institutional financial aid regulations, procedures and directives Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications Ability to work with designated student databases and college financial aid systems (Prosam) Working knowledge of preparation of business correspondence, reports, forms, vouchers, work orders, and specialized documents connected with financial aid tasks Ability to use correct business spelling, grammar, punctuation and formatting Superior interpersonal and persuasive communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evenings and weekends Ability to work effectively in a dynamic team and to multi-task in a fast-paced, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff Preferences Note: Certain servicemembers and veterans, and the spouses and family members of such servicemembers and veterans, will receive preference and priority for this job vacancy.
