Our Energy team partners with leading utilities and energy providers to modernize the electric grid, strengthen reliability and resilience, and advance the transition to a cleaner energy future. Here, ambitious leaders have the opportunity to influence an essential industry, collaborate across a global organization, and build a career defined by meaningful work and lasting impact. Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking an accomplished US Transmission Line Engineering Manager to lead and advance our transmission line engineering and design practice across the United States. This is a highly visible national leadership opportunity for an influential industry professional who is motivated to shape strategy, elevate technical and delivery excellence, and build an integrated practice positioned for enduring growth. Reporting to the Power Delivery Operations Manager, you will provide national leadership for Stantec’s U.S. transmission line professionals and oversee the alignment of people, project delivery, and program support across the country. You will unite our coast-to-coast practice around a shared vision deploying the right expertise wherever it creates the greatest value for our clients, our projects, and our people. This role extends well beyond traditional. You will set the direction for a national practice and bring together technical quality, strategic workforce planning, exceptional project delivery, executive client engagement, and business growth. Drawing on your knowledge of transmission line engineering, utility capital programs, and emerging priorities, including grid modernization, resilience, renewable integration, extra‑high‑voltage systems, HVDC, and underground transmission, you will help define where the practice goes next. As a senior representative of the practice, you will cultivate trusted industry relationships, position Stantec for the market’s most strategic opportunities, and support the pursuit and successful delivery of major transmission programs. You will work closely with Stantec leadership including operations leaders, sector leaders, account managers, project managers, and technical leaders to align investment, resources, delivery, and growth priorities across the United States while developing the people and capabilities that will define the future of the practice. Your Key Responsibilities Lead the U.S. transmission line practice as a single integrated national team, creating a culture of collaboration and resource sharing across all regions and offices. Provide leadership, coaching, and development oversight to transmission line engineering managers and their teams. Develop and execute the strategic vision, growth plan, and operating objectives for Stantec’s U.S. transmission line practice. Drive consistent utilization, workforce planning, and resource management across the transmission line organization. Mentor team members and provide strategic and technical guidance. Communicate practice performance, resource needs, and key priorities to leadership using key performance indicators to guide decisions. Partner with Operations, Sector Leadership, and Project Managers to balance workload, address resource constraints, and support strong quality, schedule, financial, and client outcomes. Ensure projects are appropriately staffed and executed in accordance with Stantec quality, safety, and technical standards. Provide leadership on complex, high-profile, or strategically important transmission line programs and pursuits. Support recruitment, retention, succession planning, and professional development for transmission line staff across the United States. Foster a culture focused on technical excellence, innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Identify capability gaps and implement plans to strengthen technical expertise, leadership depth, and delivery capacity within the practice. Provide leadership and support for strategically important projects from inception through engineering, construction support, and closeout. Collaborate across business units and global delivery centers to expand capacity, strengthen execution and improve delivery efficiency. Cultivate and deepen strategic relationships with utility clients, developers, EPC contractors, and industry partners. Serve as a visible industry leader representing Stantec at client meetings, industry conferences, and professional organizations. Support account planning, opportunity identification, capture planning, and strategic pursuit development for key transmission clients. Guide and contribute to proposal development, staffing strategies, risk reviews, client presentations, and commercial discussions for major opportunities. Use market intelligence and industry trends to guide investments, service offerings, and growth priorities within the transmission line sector. Expand existing client relationships and identify opportunities to introduce broader Power Delivery and multidisciplinary services. Partner with Sector Leaders, Account Managers, and Business Center Leadership to achieve strategic growth, revenue, and profitability objectives. Capabilities and Credentials Demonstrated ability to lead engineering managers and geographically distributed technical teams. Strong knowledge of the U.S. electric utility and transmission line market. Established relationships and credibility within the transmission line industry. Experience managing resource needs, project priorities, technical quality, and delivery risk across multiple concurrent projects. Ability to create alignment among teams and leaders operating in different offices and geographic markets. Demonstrated ability to mentor, motivate, empower, and develop employees and emerging leaders. Strong business judgment and the ability to balance people, project delivery, client, and financial considerations. Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
