Profession: RRT Specialty: Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: At least one year of relevant experience License: RCP License Certifications: BLS-AHA, RRT (NBRC) Must-Have: Arterial Blood Gas Analysis, Capillary Blood Gas Analysis, Respiratory Care, Ventilator Support, Airway Management
Description: The Registered Respiratory Therapist performs routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision. Responsible for performance and competency of care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations. Effectively evaluates the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans. Accurately introduces, administers, and charts the effects of routine respiratory therapy and medication administration. Sets up, maintains, and charts the usage of oxygen therapy, aerosol/humidity therapy, and ventilator therapy. Provides ventilator support and airway management to various populations. Performs arterial blood gas and capillary blood gas analysis, following Medical Director approval. Participates and performs blood gas quality controls per regulatory standards. Participates in blood gas proficiency studies. May be trained in endotracheal intubation and arterial line insertion. May take a charge role. Completes assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients on respiratory care services. Accurately charts on the respiratory flow sheets in the electronic medical record and on care plans. Processes and maintains respiratory equipment. Evaluates patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units. Evaluates patients for routine respiratory care therapy in the Emergency room. Evaluates patients for advanced respiratory care therapy in intensive care units. Participates on all transport teams. Obtains and analyzes blood gases—arterial, venous, and capillary. Assists in cleaning respiratory care-related equipment. Assists with stocking respiratory care-related supplies on inpatient care units.
