Job Brief

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, a maintenance mechanic is responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, and building systems are functioning efficiently and safely.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Director of Maintenance, a maintenance mechanic is responsible for ensuring that machinery, equipment, and building systems are functioning efficiently and safely. The role involves preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues.

POSITION DUTIES:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, equipment, and systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize equipment failures.
  • Replace or repair defective parts of equipment
  • Conduct routine maintenance on HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical when appropriate
  • Identify mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Test equipment to ensure proper functionality after repairs when appropriate.
  • Analyze system malfunctions and recommend solutions.
  • Assemble, install, and configure new machinery or mechanical systems.
  • Develop and follow maintenance schedules to prevent breakdowns.
  • Lubricate parts, clean equipment, and conduct routine checks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure equipment is maintained according to OSHA standards.
  • Perform safety inspections and document findings.
  • Identify potential hazards and take corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment performance.
  • Manage tools, parts, and maintenance supplies.
  • Ensure inventory is stocked to support timely repairs and upkeep.
  • Train staff in equipment use and proper maintenance procedures if required.
  • Ability to paint and fix sheetrock when needed.
  • Distribute work orders as well as ensuring that work is performed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and track all tools and supplies.
  • All other duties assigned by Program Director.
  • REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least three years' experience or associates degree with at least two years' experience.
  • Strong mechanical experience
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
  • Computer Proficiency, including MS Office, Word and Excel and ability to learn/use basic interior design software for development of evacuation plans and reference layouts.
  • Knowledge of the practices and techniques of the trades in order to manage plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and masonry contractors.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Familiar with multi-trade tools and equipment and able to use them.
  • Experience in the repair, inspection, and/or maintenance of machine shop equipment including inspection and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, fabricating and diagnosis.
  • Experience working and collaborating with sub-contractors when needed.
  • Able to bend, knee, lift about 50 pounds of weight when needed.
  • Valid driver's license0

WORKING CONDITIONS:


A 24/7 facility and one must be able to react to crises where immediate action is required to correct or curtail potentially damaging or hazardous situations.
Work in all temperatures and climatic conditions. Some temperatures can be extreme depending on the situation.
Able to work in confined spaces, some require the use of protective equipment.
