Registered Nurse Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Facility: D-H Medical Center | Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (11200) Location: 1 Medical Center Drive Start Date: October 13, 2025 End Date: January 10, 2026 Contract Length: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour AM/PM, D/N Rotation Variable start times (0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1900)

Compensation (W2)

• Hourly Pay Rate: $29.00/hr

• Overtime Rate: $43.50/hr

• Housing Stipend: $1,239/week

• Meals Stipend: $518/week

• Regular Hours: 36 per week

• Weekly Gross: $2,801

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced PACU RN for a high-acuity, high-volume Post-Anesthesia Care Unit. This is a fast-paced environment with a wide variety of surgical patients.

Patient Population & Surgical Cases

You will care for patients recovering from diverse surgical procedures, including but not limited to:

• Vascular: Carotids, AAA repairs

• General Surgery

• Thoracic: Esophagectomy

• Gynecology

• Neuro: Craniotomy for tumor, neurostimulators, modified radical neck with tracheostomy

• Orthopedic Surgery

• Kidney Transplants

• Whipples (Pancreaticoduodenectomy)

Clinical Skills Required

• Ventricular drains (No ICP monitoring in PACU; patients requiring ICP monitoring go directly to ICU)

• Arterial lines & central lines

• Familiarity with vasoactive and sedative drips

• Chest tubes

• Tracheostomy care

• Managing PACU overnight boarders, which may include ICU craniotomies, step-down, or med-surg patients

Work Environment

• High acuity, high volume PACU "Controlled chaos" in the evenings

• Patients often have complex post-operative needs and require rapid, skilled interventions

• Collaboration with multidisciplinary surgical and ICU teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous ICU and/or high-acuity PACU experience strongly preferred

• Strong critical thinking and rapid response skills

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable setting
