HVAC Preventative Maintenance Worker

Performs preventative maintenance on heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Inspects heating & cooling units in accordance with diagrams.
• Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment according to schedules.
• Replaces air filters on all applicable equipment.
• Inspects inoperative HVAC and refrigeration units to locate possible causes of trouble and reports maintenance needs to Lead HVAC Mechanic.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Lead HVAC Mechanic or Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing Specialist

Supervisory responsibilities include:

• Directly supervises 1 to 2 employees in Facilities Services. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable procedures.
• Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.

Qualifications to perform this job successfully include:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred, and a working knowledge of HVAC equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read and understand HVAC diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
• Possess current Texas driver's license.

Physical demands include:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• This position may require an alternate work schedule in the evenings or early morning hours.
