Respiratory Therapist- Per Diem

Job Summary Geisinger offers Per Diem Respiratory Therapists with a minimum hourly base pay of $30.40, increasing for experienced individuals and up to an additional $5.50 in shift differential for evenings, nights, and weekends. Perform and document thorough patient assessments. Establish appropriate care plans. Communicate with patients and care team members. Perform routine therapeutic modalities: aerosolized medications, secretion management, pulmonary volume expansion, oxygen therapy, and maintenance of artificial airways. Initiate and manage conventional and high‑frequency mechanical ventilators. Provide age‑specific patient and family education on disease management. Assist in intra‑hospital transport of ventilated patients. Manage acute airway emergencies. Set up and manage non‑invasive monitoring: ETCO monitors, pulse oximeters. Assist with discharge planning for respiratory‑related DME supplies and insurance guidelines. Adhere to regulatory requirements and safety standards. Follow institutional and national standards of care. Collect arterial blood gas samples and process via point‑of‑care analyzers. Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA. Serve as Shift Coordinator (charge person) after one year. Assist with fiberoptic bronchoscopy procedures. Assist with invasive monitoring line placement and hemodynamic measurements. Preceptor for interns and students in clinical rotation. Position Details Per Diem/Flex: Days, evenings, nights. Option to self‑schedule. Minimum 24 hours per month. Education: Graduate from a specialty training program (required).
