Senior Security Engineer, Data

Salary: $96,700 - 145,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or Information Systems
• At least 3 years of experience in data security, cybersecurity, or a closely related field
• Practical experience with at least one data security platform such as BigID, Varonis, or Spirion
• Practical experience with at least one DLP solution such as Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, or Symantec
• Strong knowledge of data classification and governance principles
• Strong understanding of data protection methods, including DLP, encryption, and tokenization
• Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS
• Experience working in enterprise IT environments, including cloud, endpoint, and SaaS
• Familiarity with Linux and Kubernetes environments

• We own the day-to-day operation of our data security platforms
• We onboard new data sources and maintain scanning coverage across environments
• We continuously refine classification rules and validation processes to improve accuracy
• We optimize DLP policies and enforcement controls to balance protection with usability
• We identify overexposed, misclassified, or unprotected sensitive data and drive remediation
• We assess data exposure risks and recommend mitigation measures
• We validate the effectiveness of data protection controls such as DLP, encryption, and labeling
• We support data-related incident investigations and perform root cause analysis
• We partner with application, data, cloud, and business teams to improve data protection outcomes
• We advise stakeholders on data classification, labeling, and handling best practices
• We take part in working groups and governance forums to align on data security strategy
• We coordinate with SOC, Identity, and Privacy teams to support integrated security operations
• We look for ways to automate data discovery, classification, and response workflows
• We improve operational processes for onboarding, tuning, and governance
• We stay current on emerging risks such as insider threat, data leakage, and AI or data misuse
• We contribute to enhancements in the enterprise data security strategy and roadmap
• We support adoption of new data security and privacy capabilities
