Together, the university's community of doers, makers, healers, and innovators empowers graduates to change the world, solve 21st-century challenges, and reinvent the future.ResponsibilitiesServes as a main point of contact for payroll & troubleshoots payroll-related issues impacting employees (non-payments, pay discrepancies, general questions, etc.) while exhibiting excellent customer service to the employee.Assists in the preparation of payroll in Workday Payroll system for employees paid on weekly, biweekly and semi-monthly frequencies.Assists with the semi-monthly Vancouver, Canada payroll submission to ADP.Performs data entry tasks related to payroll, absences and benefits adjustments.Enters and maintains On-Demand payroll records upon Management approval.Reconciles union dues deductions to records maintained by Accounting Dept. and various union liaisons.Monitors employment and pay compliance criteria for Federal College Work Study and other student employees.Provides ad hoc payroll reporting and other documentation to Finance, HR, and other authorized parties.Communicates with and reports to State, local and 3rd party agencies as needed.Additional responsibilities assigned by management.QualificationsBachelor's degree in business administration or other related business major required.Minimum 2 years payroll, human resources or finance-related experience, preferably in higher education.Experience in providing quality customer service required.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.Experience with Workday software is preferred.Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Knowledge of NYS Department of Labor laws and Federal/State payroll tax laws.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with others of all levels.Display high degree of professionalism, strong work ethic and a positive attitude.Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.Other InformationNew York Institute of Technology offers numerous opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth and provides employees with a competitive compensation and benefits program inclusive of generous paid time off, holidays, tuition remission, and retirement plans with employer contributions.New York Institute of Technology is an Equal Opportunity Employer – All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.In compliance with local legislation as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, the annual base salary range for this position is listed.
