Job Summary

A growing organization in the industrial facilities and infrastructure construction industry is seeking an experienced Assistant Payroll Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Wilmington, DE. This onsite role is ideal for a payroll professional who brings strong multi-state payroll knowledge, payroll tax expertise, and the ability to support and develop a payroll team.

The Assistant Payroll Manager will work closely with payroll leadership to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across multiple states. This is a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys improving payroll operations, mentoring team members, and contributing to a collaborative accounting and finance environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with managing day-to-day payroll operations, team workflow, and payroll processing deadlines.
- Ensure accurate and timely multi-state payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, pay rate updates, employee status changes, and related documentation.
- Support payroll tax compliance, payroll tax submissions, union reporting, unemployment claims, wage garnishments, and tax withholding administration.
- Maintain payroll records, reports, and employee payroll documentation while supporting internal and external audit activities.
- Help train, mentor, and develop payroll staff to strengthen team performance and payroll accuracy.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $90,000 to $100,000 annually.
