Child Nutrition Assistant

The Child Nutrition Assistant is responsible for assisting in food preparation, serving, cashiering, and clean-up, using safe food practices. Qualifications include a current Food Handler's Certificate, a high school diploma or equivalent preferred, experience in food preparation desired, experience handling money desired, ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment, knowledge of HACCP and workplace safety requirements, ability to lift 50lbs and stand for long periods of time, ability to work with figures and to make arithmetic calculations, ability to operate a computerized cash register, ability to communicate with parents, staff, and students on the Child Nutrition program, must be able to read, write, and speak English, knowledge of and adherence to all policies, regulations, and rules, must pass a background clearance, and must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card. Term of employment is 181 days; 9 months. Compensation is per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position. Benefits are as per QCUSD District policy. Reports to the Child Nutrition Cafeteria Manager. Hours are 25 hours per week - Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Classification is hourly, non-exempt. Performance responsibilities include establishing and maintaining good rapport with students, employees, and community, executing all essential skills within a reasonable time span, accurately inventorying and reporting production of food quantities, operating cash register, following all food safety and sanitation guidelines, operating standard kitchen equipment, assisting with quantity food preparation, assisting with the daily cleaning of the kitchen and all kitchen equipment, assisting with stocking and replenishing of supplies, setting up and breaking down serving lines, being willing to take over for the CN Assistant Senior in her/his absence, performing all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed, and performing other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities. Physical demands include standing, sitting, talking or hearing, repetitively using hands and arms, standing, bending, or stooping, moving about the campuses and driving to the schools and departments in the District, lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds, and specific vision abilities. Work environment is usually moderate noise level.
