Estimator II

Job Title

Prepare complete cost estimates at every level of design, including conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents. Analyze building systems as projects require, including recommendations on structural systems, MEP systems, etc. Analysis may include quantity survey, subcontractor pricing, unit costing, material breakdowns, etc. Create scope documents that communicate inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications of the estimate to owners, architects, and other stakeholders. Propose creative solutions through value engineering for issues within construction budgets. Build relationships with subcontractors in order to prepare lists of subcontractors/suppliers confirmed to be bidding on project. Request clarifications or additional information regarding projects currently being worked on from project architects & engineers. Present budget and bid estimate information to owner and design professional teams. Communicate directly with subcontractors prior to bid date to verify participation and clarify scope. Proactively schedule internal reviews and provide award recommendations with project management team and DOPS. Attend project walk-throughs and communicate with owners, designers, and subcontractors on location. Complete assignments by due dates as indicated on the estimate responsibility sheet. Lead project kick-off and close out meetings with team. Compile historical cost data for project estimates and bids. Participate and occasionally lead client presentations with sales & marketing team. Attend architectural/engineering design meetings as required. Attend owner meetings as required.

Requirements

5 years of estimating, preconstruction, or civil engineering experience. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in construction management, structural, civil, or architectural engineering is preferred, but not required. Ability to read and understand drawings and specifications. Advanced knowledge of construction management processes and methods. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint). Proficiency in estimating software programs such as On-Center, I^2ft, Adobe, Bluebeam, Building Connect, etc. Demonstrates high level of emotional intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company and clients. Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details. Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day. Current driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.
