Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a skilled and dependable Maintenance Repairer to join our team. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, functionality, and daily operations of our facility. We are looking for a motivated individual with hands-on experience in general maintenance, repairs, and facility upkeep who is ready to contribute to a mission-driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications


Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR

Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR

Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:

• Performs minor repairs and maintenance on navigational locks , including replacing hydraulic hoses, inspecting components for wear, and ensuring proper operation to support safe and efficient facility functions.
• Maintains and repairs a wide range of motorized equipment , conducting tasks such as tune-ups, troubleshooting mechanical issues, replacing or adjusting worn or damaged parts (carburetors, generators, alternators, starters, pumps, brake linings/pads, etc.), and performing limited disassembly of major components (engines, transmissions, final drives) to assess damage and determine required repairs.
• Executes general building and facility repairs , including work on interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, HVAC systems, and related mechanical components. Duties may involve plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, and other trades necessary to maintain a safe, functional, and well-operating correctional environment.

Appointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE

• This position is a 'when actually employed' (WAE) position without benefits. Employee will work 29 hours/week.
