Hospitalist Physician AssistantBaylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our Hospital Medicine Admissions Team at Baylor University Medical Center (BUMC) in Dallas. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a collaborative, high-acuity academic medical center alongside experienced hospitalists, specialists, and multidisciplinary care teams.The Hospitalist Admissions PA focuses on the evaluation and admission of adult hospitalized patients from the Emergency Department and direct admissions. The provider will perform comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, initiate diagnostic workups, coordinate care with consulting services, and facilitate efficient patient throughput while ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care.The Physician Assistant functions as a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider with delegated prescriptive authority and practices under the supervision of collaborating physicians in accordance with Texas law and Baylor Scott & White Health policies.Practice Highlights:Adult Hospital Medicine AdmissionsBaylor University Medical Center – DallasHigh-volume tertiary and academic medical centerCollaborative multidisciplinary Hospital Medicine teamFocus on admissions, patient stabilization, and transition to inpatient teamsStrong physician and Advanced Practice Provider collaborationEpic electronic medical recordEssential Responsibilities:Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations on newly admitted patients.Evaluate patients presenting for inpatient admission from the Emergency Department, transfer facilities, and direct admissions.Develop evidence-based diagnostic and treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians.Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic testing.Initiate appropriate medical therapies and prescribe medications within scope of practice.Coordinate admissions efficiently while maintaining quality and patient safety.Collaborate with consulting specialists and interdisciplinary care teams.Document complete admission evaluations and treatment plans in the electronic medical record.Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, and expected hospital course.Initiate consultations and referrals when patient needs exceed scope of practice.Perform procedures within credentialed scope and demonstrated competency.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and support departmental goals.Maintain compliance with Baylor Scott & White policies, clinical protocols, and regulatory standards.Key Success Factors:Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic reasoning skillsAbility to manage multiple admissions in a fast-paced hospital environmentExcellent communication and collaboration with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staffSound clinical judgment and critical thinkingStrong organizational and documentation skillsAbility to prioritize competing clinical demandsCommitment to evidence-based medicine and patient-centered careProficiency with electronic medical records and clinical technologyDedication to providing compassionate, high-quality careQualifications:Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant programRequired Certifications & Licensure: Current Texas Physician Assistant license, NCCPA Certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire or transfer, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 30 days of hire or transferPreferred Qualifications: Hospital Medicine or inpatient clinical experience preferred, Strong interest in acute inpatient medicine, New graduates with relevant inpatient clinical rotations are encouraged to applyCompensation based on experienceBenefits:Immediate eligibility for medical, dental, and vision benefitsCompetitive compensation401(k) savings plan with dollar-for-dollar match up to 5%Paid Time Off beginning on Day 1Tuition ReimbursementCME support and professional development opportunitiesMalpractice coverageComprehensive wellness resourcesBenefits may vary based on position type and level.Why Baylor University Medical Center?Baylor University Medical Center is one of Texas' premier academic medical centers, recognized for excellence in patient care, education, and innovation.
