Pediatric Occupational Therapist

PurposeProvide occupational therapy to children with developmental delays and provide caregiver coaching and education on each child’s therapy program to parents and other professionals involved in child’s care.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDuties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:Assess each child's functional skills/abilities/challenges; conduct formal evaluations of performance; design and implement treatment plan in Center, home, or community childcare as needed; prepare progress reports; review medical reports; seek medical referral, consultation, and advice as necessary; and maintain accurate records of contact for each child.Educate family/care givers in therapeutic interventions; design and/or assist in developing and ordering adaptive equipment.Make referrals to appropriate community or Kindering programs, support groups, and other servicesAssist in supervision of student therapists.Provide or support outreach, intensive informing, care planning, coordination, anticipatory guidance for complex health needs, assistance to access services, consultation, resource development, interagency coordination, training, program planning, quality management, and administration to support Medicaid programs.Evaluate home, daycare, or school situation through site visits if indicated; educate family/care givers in therapeutic interventions; design and/or assist in developing and ordering adaptive equipment.Participate in the development of each child's total program as part of the interdisciplinary team.Coordinate enrollment/transitions into appropriate community or Kindering Center programs, support groups, and other services; coordinate case management meetings with community agencies.Facilitate Individual Family Service Plan conference in cooperation with Family Resource Coordinator.Required Education & ExperienceB.S. degree in Occupational Therapy; master's degree preferredValid Washington State professional licenseLooking for additional language proficiency with Spanish preferredTraining in neurodevelopmental treatment techniques preferredExperience and comfort with interacting with diverse populationsInfant feeding experience highly preferredStrong teamwork skillsAbility to demonstrate dependability and punctualityKey CompetenciesPediatric Occupational Therapy & Early Intervention: Skilled in developmental assessments, treatment planning, functional evaluations, adaptive equipment, and infant feeding interventions.Family-Centered Care & Communication: Educates and coaches families and caregivers, facilitates IFSP meetings, and provides culturally responsive, compassionate care.Care Coordination & Collaboration: Works effectively within interdisciplinary teams, coordinates with community agencies and healthcare providers, and manages referrals and transitions.Documentation & Clinical Compliance: Maintains accurate clinical records, prepares progress reports, ensures confidentiality, and adheres to regulatory and licensing requirements.Professionalism & Teamwork: Demonstrates strong collaboration, dependability, organizational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office while supporting student therapists and quality improvement initiatives.Minimum PrerequisitesPossess a valid Washington State DOH OT license or be in process of obtaining oneDemonstrate skill in word processing and familiarity with MS Word and ExcelPass Washington State DSHS criminal history and background check and FBI fingerprint checkStrictly maintain confidentiality of all client informationMaintain valid unexpired proof of identity during employmentPass tuberculosis testAbility to show proof of current immunizations, including COVID-19 and MMR vaccine or titer test*Kindering is subject to multiple executive orders requiring all employees to be vaccinated or apply and be approved for a sincerely held religious belief or medical exemption. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Provide occupational therapy services in the center, homes, daycare, schools, and community settings, with occasional local travel.Frequently lift, carry, position, and assist infants and young children while performing floor-level therapeutic activities.Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and use fine motor skills to deliver therapy and adjust adaptive equipment.Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, families, caregivers, and community partners in a fast-paced pediatric environment.Maintain accurate electronic documentation while managing multiple cases and adhering to confidentiality and regulatory standards.This is a full-time position with elective time off, paid time off, and 11 paid holidays per year.
