Underwriting Associate, National Accounts Casualty Wholesale Umbrella

Job Description As an Underwriting Associate on the National Accounts Casualty Wholesale team, you will oversee underwriting risk for renewal and new business within a limited authority. This hybrid role works 2‑3 days per week from our Atlanta office. Responsibilities Perform underwriting analysis and documentation to determine acceptability of risk in accordance with company guidelines for renewal and new business within an assigned Letter of Underwriting Authority. Handle endorsement requests within delegated authority, referring any beyond authority to an underwriter with recommended action and engaging agencies when needed. Manage the assigned renewal book, triaging renewal applications/specs and formulating next steps for the underwriter for accounts that fall outside authority. Act as liaison within the branch or across CNA to resolve issues such as billing and collections, risk control, and underwriting guidance from cabinet members and line‑of‑business specialists. Document assigned files ensuring completeness, compliance, and quality across correspondence, proposals, endorsements, and cancellations. Execute advanced pricing strategy (e.g., business‑unit pricing tools) on behalf of the underwriter, complying with regulatory and CNA‑specific underwriting strategies, and document pricing rationale. Complete quote proposals and negotiate with external partners within assigned authority. Serve as the first‑line contact for producers/customers on account‑related matters while proactively identifying upsell or account‑rounding opportunities. Assist in marketing products and services through external partners and conduct field visits. Serve as an expert on systems and workflows, train teammates, solve problems, and coach others, acting as a conduit for feedback to internal underwriting partners. Keep up‑to‑date knowledge of business strategy, state/territory issues, regulations, and trends; perform additional duties as assigned. Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Knowledge of Property and Casualty underwriting, insurance products, policy processing procedures, and documentation. Strong time‑management and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of internal and external partners. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks. Strong capability to advise and coach others. Proven customer‑service experience interacting with a wide variety of people in person, via telephone, and by email. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business‑related software. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
