The Environmental Health Specialist will support public health and well-being by conducting fieldwork and environmental assessments for a variety of environmental health and industrial hygiene projects. Under the direction of Project Managers, you will support projects involving asbestos, lead, mold and moisture, indoor environmental quality, air and exposure sampling, and other environmental health concerns.

This is a field-based role that requires regular travel to local client sites and occasional travel outside the local area, depending on project needs. You will collect samples and field data, document site conditions, prepare accurate field notes, and communicate project updates to Project Managers.

This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, takes pride in accuracy and professionalism, and is eager to develop technical experience in environmental health and industrial hygiene. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong attention to detail, reliability, a positive work ethic, and a willingness to learn beyond their current comfort zone.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform assigned fieldwork and project tasks under the direction of Project Managers.
  • Travel regularly to local client sites and occasionally to out‑of‑area locations based on project needs.
  • Support environmental health and industrial hygiene projects involving asbestos, lead, mold and moisture, indoor environmental quality, air and exposure sampling, and other environmental health concerns.
  • Review project scopes, site requirements, and field protocols to ensure a clear understanding of assigned work.
  • Collect field data and samples in accordance with established procedures, project specifications, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct site observations and document field conditions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Prepare, organize, maintain, and transport the tools, equipment, and supplies needed for assigned fieldwork.
  • Maintain detailed field notes; compile data; and summarize findings to support project reporting and analysis.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Managers regarding project status, technical questions, field conditions, and next steps.
  • Report progress, concerns, and deviations from project scope or established protocols promptly.
  • Interact professionally and collaboratively with clients, contractors, building occupants, and other stakeholders at project sites.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.
  • Participate actively in training, mentorship, and professional‑development opportunities to build technical knowledge in environmental health and industrial hygiene.
  • Support the delivery of high‑quality, timely client service while maintaining FACS’s standards for accuracy, professionalism, and integrity.

What You Bring:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, professional, and able to follow field protocols, safety requirements, and project instructions.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and a driving record that meets company standards.
  • Ability to travel regularly to local client sites, with occasional out‑of‑area travel as needed.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this field‑based role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends based on project requirements.

Preferred

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Fieldwork or related experience in environmental services, construction, facilities, EHS, restoration, inspection, sampling, or technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with asbestos, lead, mold and moisture, indoor environmental quality, or air and exposure sampling
Qualifications

Physical & Work Requirements

Ability to perform field‑based work at client sites, including stooping, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and accessing a variety of areas to collect samples.

Ability to work at a desk and use a computer for extended periods to complete documentation and reporting.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
