Public Health Nutritionist

Position Summary The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is offering a career opportunity for qualified individuals for the Public Health Nutritionist position in the WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program located in San Pablo and Pittsburg, CA. The role may require occasional travel within Contra Costa County. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling, and nutrition education to clients. Develop menu items for subcontractors. Conduct site visits to ensure compliance and support staff and community health professionals with nutrition and health information and referrals. Conduct client surveys and data tools to ensure client needs are met. Follow federal, state, and county policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications Valid California driver’s license; out‑of‑state license accepted during application. Valid Certificate as a Registered Dietitian issued by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. One year of full‑time or equivalent community‑based nutrition work. Master’s degree in nutrition, public health nutrition, or a closely related field can substitute for one year of experience. The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months.
