Location: Queens, NY
Schedule: Full-Time
Pay Rate: $23.00–$24.00 per hour

Join Our Team as a Recreation Leader!

Union Plaza Care Center is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and creative Recreation Leader to join our team. In this role, you will help enhance the quality of life for our residents by planning and leading engaging recreational activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating recreational programs for residents.

• Lead individual and group activities that encourage resident participation and engagement.

• Observe resident attendance, mood, behavior, and level of involvement, documenting progress and reporting significant changes.

• Assist with resident assessments, care planning, and discharge planning related to recreational services.

• Interview residents and family members to identify recreational interests and preferences.

• Encourage resident and family participation in developing individualized recreation goals and care plans.

• Coordinate recreational activities with nursing, therapy, social services, and other interdisciplinary team members.

• Prepare recreation rooms and activity areas before scheduled programs and clean up afterward.

• Assist with supervising community outings, special events, and facility activities.

• Maintain accurate recreation documentation in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.

• Assist in maintaining quality assurance standards within the Recreation Department.

• Recommend recreation equipment and supply needs while utilizing department resources efficiently.

• Participate in facility surveys and regulatory inspections as directed.

• Follow all safety, infection control, HIPAA, and facility policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to speak Chinese or Korean preferred.

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Previous nursing home, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care experience preferred; however, we are willing to train the right candidate.

• Previous experience leading recreational activities or working with seniors is a plus.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic personality with a genuine passion for enriching the lives of residents.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

• Must communicate effectively in English.

• Must maintain professionalism when interacting with residents, families, staff, and visitors.
