Job Objective Demonstrates advanced clinical and communication skills under the direction of leadership, is responsible for optimal provision of quality patient care and assists with functioning of an assigned unit/clinic. Assumes clinical and operational leadership responsibility of the unit/clinic, providing continuity and coordination of unit/clinic activities. Demonstrates commitment to system values through customer/patient focus and continuous process improvement. Facilitates staff involvement in Performance Excellence. Assists leadership in monitoring compliance with all State and Federal laws and is accountable for assurance of staff compliance with Joint Commission Standards. Education Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing. Licensure / Certification California Registered Nurse (RN) licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA) required in all departments upon hire. Additional certifications required as outlined based on assigned department: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from AHA: Upon hire – 7010 Emergency Room, 6400 2N LDRP if assigned to L&D (not required for Postpartum RNs). Within 90 days of hire – 6010 Intensive Care Units, 6173 Vascular AP4S, 7087 EDOC Pain Management (South Palm Canyon), 7089 EDOC Pain Management (Rancho Mirage), 7420 Surgery Main, 7426 Perianesthesia – EDOSC, 7427 Perianesthesia – Main Surgery, 7428 Special Procedures, 7429 Perianesthesia – Same Day Surgery DHOC, 7430 Surgery Same Day DHOC, 7431 EDOSC Surgery, 7570 Cardiac Cath Lab, 7571 Electro Physiology Lab, 7581 EDCC Cardiology Clinic, 7588 EDCC OP Cardiovascular Testing, 7590 Cardiology, 7630 Radiology Main, 7631 Interventional Radiology, 7760 GI Lab, 7761 Mirage Endoscopy. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from AHA: Upon Hire – 7426 Perianesthesia – EDOSC, 7429 Perianesthesia – Same Day Surgery DHOC, 7431 EDOSC Surgery, 7630 Radiology Main, 7631 Interventional Radiology. Within 30 days of hire – 7010 Emergency Room. Within 90 days of hire – 7427 Perianesthesia – Main Surgery. Within 180 days of hire – 6172 Medical Surgical 4E (required only for Pediatric RNs). Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification: Upon Hire – 6400 2N LDRP, 6530 Neonatal ICU Level II. Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced Fetal monitoring: Upon hire for external new hires – 6400 2N LDRP if assigned to L&D (not required for Postpartum RNs). Within 90 days for internal transfers – 6400 2N LDRP if assigned to L&D (not required for Postpartum RN). Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, and Emotional Support (STABLE) course completion: Within 30 days – 6400 2N LDRP, 6530 Neonatal ICU Level II. ONC Provider Card: Within 90 days – 6171 Medical Surgical 3E, 7641 Main Infusion, 7643 Hem/Onc Infusion (LCCC), 7646 Hem/Onc Infusion (Rancho Plaza), 7647 Hem/Onc Bighorn Infusion (Argyros). Oncology Nurse Certification: Within three (3) years if hired after January 1, 2022 if full‑time or part‑time – 7641 Main Infusion, 7643 Hem/Onc Infusion (LCCC), 7646 Hem/Onc Infusion (Rancho Plaza), 7647 Hem/Onc Bighorn Infusion (Argyros). Hyperbaric Certification: Within one (1) year – 7070 Wound Care Clinic (Warke). Experience Required: Three (3) years of clinical RN experience. Reports To Clinical Manager or Director. Supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, Nursing Assistants, Medical Assistants, Monitor Technicians, Patient Care Technicians, and other positions as assigned. Ages of Patients (as assigned) Neonate/Infant, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric. Blood Borne Pathogens High Potential. High Potential Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Ability to communicate and teach effectively by using dynamic approaches. Ability to lead by example, demonstrating integrity, transparency, and accountability in decision‑making and actions. Competent in the Scope and Standards of Care for Nursing Professional Development. Contributes to maintaining a healthy work environment. Knowledge of evidence‑based nursing practice. Knowledge of the special needs of the patient population served. Possesses strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills. Strong knowledge and clinical skills in critical care nursing. Strong knowledge of healthcare and regulatory standards to meet training needs. Written and verbal communication skills. Essential Responsibilities Demonstrate compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and take action to resolve compliance questions or concerns reporting suspected violations. Monitor department specific standards of care/practice. Develop Nursing and Operational P.I. Projects and communicate resultant data in conjunction with leadership and the UBC, as applicable. Monitor unit/clinic readiness in TJC, California and Federal standards. Ensure daily assessment of unit/clinic equipment to maintain quality controls (i.e., Crash Cart check, POCT, Med Refrigerators, as applicable). Ensure unit/clinic based patient care equipment is working accurately without defect; place work orders when necessary with subsequent timely follow‑up. Round with staff members/patients daily to evaluate care and services of patients. Facilitate availability of adequate material resources and supplies. Assist control of expenditures within the department. Assess shift staffing needs consistent with patient mix, census and acuity levels. Set priorities appropriate to daily patient/physician dynamics. Assure patient acuity classification is completed and accurate, if applicable. Maintain communication and resolve issues regarding shift activities. Coach and educate staff regarding clinical questions. Retain clinical competency for execution of patient care and serve as a clinical resource for the patient care team. Facilitate multidisciplinary patient care planning and rounding. Collaborate with staff regarding necessary physician notification. Oversee medication barcoding compliance as applicable and monitor staff for compliance. Effectively promote and maintain the nursing shared governance model. In collaboration with leadership, may be responsible for participating in the completion of performance reviews on assigned staff. Participate in touch base rounding with case management and primary nurse for patient, as appropriate. Administer all aspects of human resource policies including disciplinary action as delegated by leadership. Resolve any patient, family or physician concerns/complaints consistent with organization‑wide expectations; knowing when to engage the chain of command. Input employees’ timekeeping corrections per policy, as assigned. Participate in creation of monthly schedule; ensure schedules are completed in a timely fashion with staffing balance to meet volume needs and skill levels. Work with designated educator to ensure all levels of nursing skills and competencies are met. Concurrently monitor and audit electronic and computer systems for compliance and correction with appropriate staff member. In collaboration with leadership, ensure staff compliance with required certifications. Perform other duties as assigned. #J-18808-Ljbffr
