The Multi-Modality Technologist is highly proficient in all aspects of two (2) or more imaging modalities, including but not limited to computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, sonography (ultrasound) nuclear medicine, general radiography and echocardiology. The Multi-Modality Technologist must be able to function independently as well as part of a team, in all aspects of patientcare. He/ She must be able to communicate with every level of caregivers including management, physicians, nursing, peers, support staff, vendors and other interests.

Qualifications:

Required Education:

Graduate from an AMA approved school

A.A.S. or equivalent

License: IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency, if applicable)

Certification: ARRT, ARDMS, NMTCB or equivalent

Desirable Education:

Preferred – B.A., B.S. or equivalent

Required Experience:

Two (2) years or greater in general radiography (or equivalent)

- Must have functioned as a general radiographer or equivalent within the last 2 years

Two (2) years or greater in one (1) other recognized imaging modality

- Must have functioned as a general radiographer or equivalent within the last 2 years

- Can be done concurrently with primary imaging modality

Desirable Experience:

Four (4) years or greater in general radiography (or equivalent)

- Must have functioned as a general radiographer or equivalent within the last 2 years

Four (4) years or greater in one (1) other recognized imaging modality

- Must have functioned as a general radiographer or equivalent within the last 2 years

- Can be done concurrently with primary imaging modality

Duties & Responsibilities:

General:

• Must be able to demonstrate competency in assigned imaging modalities. This includes but not limited to the operation of all appropriate equipment and the performance of all imaging procedures

• Maintain all Quality Control (QC) requirements and practices as established by the appropriate governing regulatory body (i.e.; IEMA, ACR, FDA and ARDMS) and St. Bernard Hospital.

• Must be able to demonstrate flexibility in work assignments as assigned based on operational need.

• Must maintain his/her appropriate licensures and certifications to proficiently operate all equipment and perform imaging procedures as assigned.

• Must demonstrate the ability to assist in the training of peers as assigned.

• Must participate in the departmental and modality orientation as assigned.
