High School Theater Teacher

We are seeking a passionate and creative High School Theatre Teacher to inspire students through dynamic instruction in acting, stagecraft, and performance. This role offers the opportunity to lead a vibrant theatre program, fostering students' artistic expression, collaboration, and confidence both on and off the stage. Qualifications - Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in theatre, performing arts, music, or music education required (or related field) Michigan Teacher Certification in Art, Music, or English strongly preferred Qualifications - Experience Previous successful experience teaching in an urban high school environment Previous performing arts experience Previous experience putting on large scale drama productions in a school or community theatre environment Qualifications - Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of restorative justice practices Knowledge of stagecraft and dramatic production Work Environment & Physical requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Must be able to move throughout the building and campus, including classrooms, hallways, and outdoor spaces. Frequent verbal communication is required to instruct students, lead meetings, and collaborate with staff and families. May be required to stand or walk for extended periods, including during supervisory duties. Occasional bending, reaching, or sitting on the floor to interact with students. Regular use of computers and instructional technology for planning, instruction, and communication. Must be able to lift or carry instructional materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds. Years of equivalent experience will be rewarded if a candidate is certified to teach in Michigan.
