If you love the vision of Borland Groover and find your values align with ours. POSITION SUMMARY The Financial Counselor at Borland Groover is a part of the Patient Access department. The general duty of this position is to provide cost estimations to patients for balances owed to the clinic/ASCs and to provide patients with an Estimate Worksheet for procedures. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Verify benefits and/or eligibility of patients that are scheduled to be seen. Take incoming calls from patients and answer benefits and/or financial responsibility questions. Make outgoing calls to patients to review financial estimates and/or balances for scheduled office appointments and/or procedures and testing. Email or mail financial estimates to patients as required or requested. Speak to patients about their account and balance, and schedule or reschedule appointments as needed. Make outgoing calls to insurance companies and check online to determine patient benefits and eligibility. Complete payment arrangements for patients when necessary. Make outgoing follow-up calls to patients making monthly payments. Adjust patient accounts by adding or updating insurances and /or billing the insurance company. Assist the satellite office personnel with insurance or financial estimation comprehension as needed. Answer nurse or patient portal inquiries assigned to the department. Requires access to Personal Health Information (PHI), HIPAA training is required, and HIPAA compliance is expected. Must follow the organization’s Code of Conduct Must participate in the Compliance Program Initiatives and reporting and Compliance Issues Handle all other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Previous experience in collections preferred, but not necessary.
