Part-Time Nursing Simulation & Experiential Learning Lead

Assistant Director of Simulation and ExperientialLearning The Assistant Director(s) of Simulation and Experiential Learningsupports the Associate Director in the day-to-day operational,technical, and educational functions of the nursing simulation andexperiential learning environments. This role focuses oncoordinating simulation and skills lab activities, overseeing openlab operations, supporting faculty in simulation-based education(SBE), and ensuring a high-quality, efficient, and learner-centeredsimulation experience. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with the AssociateDirector, faculty, and simulation operations personnel to implementsimulation and experiential learning activities aligned withprogram outcomes and INACSL Standards of Best Practice. We are seeking (2) candidates for this role. This position is apart-time staff position for 20-24 hours weekly and supports dayand evening programming during the Fall, Spring and Summersemesters. Essential Functions: 1. Operations and Lab Oversight Supports daily simulation and skills lab operations under thedirection of the Associate Director; Coordinates and oversees open lab sessions, including studentaccess, supervision, and support for independent practice; Assists with: Equipment sign-out and tracking; Setup and breakdown of skills stations, lab competencies, andsimulation scenarios; Maintaining lab readiness for scheduled and unscheduleduse; Monitors lab space utilization and identifies opportunities toimprove efficiency and workflow; Ensures equipment safety, functionality, and readiness foruse; Maintains organization and availability of supplies requiredfor simulation and lab activities; Supports scheduling coordination for simulation and labactivities in collaboration with the Associate Director. 2. Simulation and Technical Support Prepares simulation environments, including: Equipment setup; Task trainers; Scenario materials; Operates simulation equipment during learning activities,including: Patient simulators; Audio-visual and recording systems; Programs simulator scenarios based on facultyspecifications Troubleshoots equipment issues and ensures timely resolution tominimize disruption Assists with maintenance, testing, and upkeep of simulationequipment and technology Provides technical support to faculty, staff, and students inthe use of simulation equipment and learning technologies 3. Faculty and Student Support Serves as a primary resource during open lab and independentpractice sessions; Supports faculty in the implementation of simulation andskills-based learning activities; Provides consultation to faculty on: Simulation setup feasibility; Equipment and resource needs; Basic simulation design considerations; Assists in preparing students for simulation experiences byensuring access to appropriate materials and equipment; Contributes to a safe, supportive, and inclusive learningenvironment. 4. Academic and Experiential LearningSupport Supports the implementation of simulation and lab-basedlearning activities aligned with: Program outcomes; Professional nursing standards; INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice; Assists in the collection of simulation-related evaluation datafor: Student learning outcomes; Continuous quality improvement initiatives; Supports faculty in evaluating simulation effectiveness andlearner engagement; Participates in the refinement of simulation scenarios andexperiential learning activities; Collaborates with faculty and leadership to support remediationand make-up learning experiences. 5. Equipment and Resource Management Maintains knowledge of simulation and lab equipmentfunctionality and use; Assists in inventory management and supply organization toensure continuous lab readiness; Provides input regarding equipment and supply needs based onobserved usage and trends; Supports coordination with vendors related to equipmentmaintenance or troubleshooting (as directed). 6. Professional Practice andDevelopment Maintains current competency in simulation-based educationpractices; Participates in continuing education related to simulationpedagogy and technology; Promotes effective use of simulation and experiential learningwithin the program; Serves as a resource to faculty and peers implementingsimulation-based teaching strategies; Engages in professional networking related to healthcaresimulation and experiential learning. Additional Functions: Provides operational support in the absence of the AssociateDirector as needed; Participates in simulation-related meetings or committees in asupportive capacity; Maintains confidentiality and professionalism in all simulationand experiential learning activities; Performs other related duties as assigned. Job Requirements: Essential Characteristics: Demonstrates initiative and accountability in managingoperational responsibilities Strong organizational and time management skills with abilityto manage multiple priorities Effective communication skills with faculty, staff, andstudents Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based academicenvironment Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining ahigh-quality learning environment Flexibility and problem-solving skills in a dynamic simulationsetting Minimum Qualifications: Valid, unencumbered MA RN license or attainable; Education: Master's Degree in Nursing; Required Experience: Strong and recent clinical skills withprevious teaching in a simulation/lab. Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate in Nursing or related along with Master's Degree innursing Experience in nursing skills lab/clinical simulation programsor educational modalities for undergraduate and graduate nursingeducation. Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) certificationor eligible for credentialing.
