Trading Operations Specialist

Trade & Portfolio Operations Associate (Contract) · New York, NY · $65–$70/hour · 5 days on site

Our client, a private investment firm in New York, is hiring a Trade & Portfolio Operations Associate on a 6–8 month contract to support trade settlement, reconciliations, reporting and proxy voting across its portfolios.

Responsibilities

• Support equity and derivative trades from post-execution to settlement.
• Reconcile transactions, positions and cash every day against custodians, outside providers and internal records, and clear breaks and open exceptions promptly.
• Resolve settlement exceptions, trade discrepancies and other operational problems with custodians and counterparties.
• Keep trades, holdings and cash balances accurate across portfolio accounting, custody, reporting and internal systems.
• Help produce monthly investment reports, cash reports, portfolio summaries and dashboards, and help report holdings and performance to senior stakeholders.
• Respond to audit requests: gather documentation, prepare supporting schedules and work with the auditors.
• Run proxy voting across the portfolios, tracking submissions and deadlines, keeping clean records, and coordinating with custodians, proxy service providers and investment teams.
• Pitch in on ad hoc requests and projects.

Requirements

• 4+ years in fund administration, middle office, or investment or hedge fund operations, or a similar financial services setting.
• Strong working knowledge of settlement and the trade lifecycle; transaction, position and cash reconciliation; broker and custody relationships; investment servicing and portfolio operations; and operational controls, risk and process improvement.
• Sharp attention to detail, plus strong organization, analysis and problem solving.
• A team player who’s willing to help wherever needed.
• Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
• A bachelor’s in economics, accounting, finance or a similar field.
