Job Details Job Location: Statesboro, GA 30458 Position Type: Central EMS Job Category: Paramedic / CC Paramedic Summary The Paramedic provides patient care in both the emergency and non‑emergency environment. They ensure compliance with all State of Georgia EMS rules and regulations, maintain ambulance equipment and vehicle cleanliness and functionality, and keep all required licenses and certifications for an EMT‑P position. A State of Georgia Driver’s License is required, and mandatory training beyond EMT‑P courses must be attended. Employees follow company policies and procedures, including those approved by the medical director. New hires are subject to a six‑month introductory probationary period. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Respond to all calls for service dispatched from the Central EMS communications center as directed. Provide medical care at sporting events and concerts. Offer care and treatment to patients according to company policy and the medical director protocols. Ensure ambulance and all equipment are cleaned and checked daily; report deficiencies immediately to the shift supervisor or Operations Manager. Prepare and complete appropriate reports, including Patient Care Reports (PCR), billing, exposure reports, incident reports, and daily, weekly, and monthly unit check‑offs. Ensure unit and crew members adhere to Central EMS policies, procedures, guidelines, directives, and standards; report any deficiencies to the shift supervisor or Operations Manager. Ensure the vehicle placed in service complies with required laws, rules, licenses, and regulations as outlined by the State of Georgia and other authorized agencies. Attend work and mandatory meetings punctually. Maintain readiness and professionalism while on‑duty. Maintain a professional appearance and conduct while in company uniform, both on and off duty. Operate with minimal supervision and direction. Perform other duties as required. Knowledge, Skills and Ability Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on‑site emergency medical services. Knowledge of company medical director‑approved protocols and standing orders. Ability to read and interpret local maps. Demonstrated skills in successfully completing multiple, simultaneous and rapidly emerging tasks. Demonstrated ability to read and understand medical terminology. Demonstrated ability to write reports and correspondence. Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions regarding patient care, Central EMS operations and other customer service issues. Demonstrated ability to use personal computer systems, including PCR reporting, email and MDT applications. Demonstrated ability to represent Central EMS and other team members as an EMS professional. Qualifications (Minimum Requirements) Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility. Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies. Currently certified in CPR by the AHA or other appropriate organization. Currently certified in ACLS, PALS and/or other specialty certifications as required. Currently licensed with an appropriate class of state motor vehicle operator’s license. Currently has a clean driving record approved by the company vehicle liability insurer. Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, using good judgment. Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact constructively and professionally with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff. Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in a manner that reflects positively on the company. Must demonstrate a level of skill and ability consistent with the provision of high‑quality patient care. Must have the ability to perform effectively as a team leader and team member in patient care situations. Must have the ability to perform effectively in carrying out public relations and community education functions with members of the medical community and the general public in promoting the company. Physical Requirements The ability to reach, push, and pull. The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. The ability to bend, stoop, squat, and kneel for long periods of time. The ability to walk up and down stairs without difficulty. The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds without difficulty. The ability to lift and maneuver 150 pounds up and down two flights of stairs without difficulty. The ability to walk a distance of one quarter of a mile without difficulty. The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night. Working Environment Due to the nature of EMS care, employees may be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous conditions, psychological stressors, diseases and other illnesses. Frequent interruptions, work pressure, difficult personalities, and irregular work schedules are expected. The employee will be subject to changing deadlines while performing job duties and may be required to attend meetings outside of regular hours. Periods without sleep, food, or breaks may occur depending on call load.
