Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000 Annually DOE

JOB SUMMARY

The Behavioral Health Provider (BHP) provides culturally responsive mental health services to survivors of domestic violence, families affected by Missing and Murdered Indigenous People (MMIP), and community members in need of trauma-informed care. This position is responsible for assessing client needs, developing treatment plans, and coordinating crisis response efforts. The BHP collaborates with the crisis team, law enforcement, and mental health agencies to improve access to care and strengthen protective community measures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Provide direct mental health services, including individual counseling, trauma-informed therapy, and crisis intervention.
• Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine appropriate treatment plans for survivors, families, and at-risk individuals.
• Assist in developing an MMIP crisis response plan in collaboration with Tribal leadership, law enforcement, and community partners.
• Provide culturally competent care, integrating Indigenous healing practices into treatment plans when appropriate.
• Offer support groups, talking circles, and educational workshops to promote emotional wellness and resilience within the community.
• Maintain accurate and confidential case notes, treatment records, and referral documentation.
• Facilitate referrals to specialized mental health services, including substance use treatment and psychiatric care when needed.
• Build partnerships with external mental health providers, victim services organizations, and advocacy groups to expand available resources.
• Support the transportation plan for individuals needing access to mental health services.
• Participate in quarterly crisis team meetings to enhance coordinated responses to MMIP-related cases.
• Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum: Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related mental health field.
• Must possess appropriate licensure or be eligible for licensure in the State of California (LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, or equivalent).
• At least two (2) years of experience providing direct mental health services, preferably in trauma-informed care.
• Experience working with Tribal communities and an understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma is preferred.
• Familiarity with domestic violence advocacy, victim services, and MMIP-related mental health issues.
• Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to provide therapy and crisis intervention in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed manner.
• Experience in case management and developing treatment plans.
• Strong understanding of Indigenous healing practices and how they can be integrated into mental health services.
• Ability to collaborate with community partners, law enforcement, and service providers to improve access to care.
• Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to travel as needed.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

TRIBAL PREFERENCE STATEMENT:

In accordance with applicable Tribal law and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) Administration provides employment preference to enrolled PRCI Tribal Members. To qualify, applicants must submit valid proof of enrollment. Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications will be given preference in hiring, promotion, transfer, and layoff decisions. During the interview process, PRCI Tribal Members will receive an additional 7.5 points (10% of the 75-point interview rubric). Non-PRCI Native American candidates will receive an additional 5 points (6.7% of the total points) in accordance with Indian Preference guidelines. 

INDIAN PREFERENCE STATEMENT:

In compliance with 25 CFR Part 276 and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Sections 701(b) and 703(i), employment preference shall be given to qualified applicants who are enrolled members of the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians, and secondarily, to another qualified American Indian/Alaska Native Candidate.
