Boiler Combustion & Controls Technician

Fire boilers and related equipment using test equipment, meters, mechanical abilities, and electrical abilities to ensure proper operation before and during installation Perform independent start-up of boilers and related equipment Interpret written, oral, diagram, and schedule instructions Assist the Service team with field service calls, including start-up, troubleshooting, and other service activities Perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment Communicate with customers to determine boiler-specific problems, provide equipment training, explain services and operations, and provide engineering support Complete field service reports documenting work performed, problems, and hours worked Address issues and concerns through problem-solving Develop and maintain customer relations and rapport Identify new sales opportunities and equipment improvements Promote company products and services Requirements High school diploma or GED required At least four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations Familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and shop and service employees Ability to perform arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals Ability to compute ratios and percentages Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google App programs Ability to use a tablet and/or smartphone Ability to use hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Ability to work around fumes, airborne particles, extreme heat, electrical hazards, moving mechanical parts, heights, and outdoor weather conditions May require overnight travel and overtime Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering studies preferred Must be punctual, flexible, trainable, and self-starting Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, with a strong ability to perform independent start-up and troubleshooting of boilers and related equipment.
