Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the ICU will provide specialized nursing care to critically ill patients, including those with neurological needs. The role requires expertise in managing advanced equipment and delivering care in a fast-paced acute care hospital environment. The nurse will perform patient assessments, administer medications, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and maintain a 1:2 patient ratio to ensure high-quality care. Strong clinical skills, communication, and flexibility to float between units are essential.

Responsibilities:

Provide skilled nursing care to ICU patients, including neurological cases.
Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
Utilize specialized equipment relevant to neuro and critical care settings.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Meditech charting system.
Float between ICU and like units as needed to support facility staffing.
Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Active Registered Nurse license valid in the state of practice.
Minimum 1 year of ICU or critical care nursing experience with neurological patient care preferred.
Certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH Stroke Scale.
Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
Ability to maintain a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in ICU setting.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience with specialized neuro ICU equipment.
Previous experience in acute care hospital settings with Meditech charting.
Comfortable with floating between units as needed.

Special Considerations:

Weekend work required every other weekend (approximately 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period).
No on-call responsibilities.
Floating between like units required based on facility needs.
Return to Office (RTO) restrictions must be included at time of submission.
Block scheduling accommodations subject to manager discretion.
Guaranteed hours with facility able to call off once per two-week pay period.

Scheduling:

Shift assignments determined by facility needs, including weekends every other week.
Typical ICU shift pattern with 1:2 patient ratio.
Start date: ASAP.
