District Support Pharmacist Part Time

Within our retail locations, our District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) play a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence by acting as a role model for all, demonstrating genuine care, and setting the bar for the pharmacy team. Responsibilities Live our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and guiding the pharmacy team to use safety guardrails at every workstation. Assume the Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and coaching the pharmacy team to provide compassionate care and resolve insurance or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, engaging and supporting Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory, guiding the team to follow best practices and protect cold‑chain products. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe and inclusive team dynamic. Maintain relevant clinical and technical skills, seeking opportunities to expand knowledge to better support patients. Provide pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where permissible. Ensure compliance with all federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards and CVS Health policies, including controlled substance dispensing, record‑keeping, patient privacy and workplace safety. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe. Attention and Focus Concentration on tasks over time. Quick pivoting between tasks to meet patient and business needs. Confirmation of prescription information and label accuracy to ensure patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions and respond appropriately. Communication Skills Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Employ active listening, giving full attention, asking questions, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Mathematical Reasoning Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets, day’s supply, and bottle requirements. Problem Resolution Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when multiple options exist. Physical Demands Remain mobile and upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; lift up to 20 lbs occasionally, up to 10 lbs frequently. Reach overhead, stretch or grasp items with hands and arms. Use fingers repetitively for picking, pinching, typing, or other tasks. Control precision and adjust machines to exact positions. Stoop to a considerable degree requiring use of lower extremities and back muscles. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks such as transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, and inspecting small parts. Express or exchange ideas via spoken word where detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately. Receive detailed information through oral communication. Perform any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1–2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
