Lead Software Engineer - Java (Corporate Technology)

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with at least 5 years of applied experience
• At least 5 years of professional experience with one or more programming languages, including Java or Python for data engineering
• Hands-on experience with Databricks, including Spark, Delta Lake, notebooks, and job orchestration, and AWS data services such as EMR, Athena, Glue, and S3
• Hands-on Apache Spark experience developing and optimizing large-scale data pipelines, supporting real-time and batch analytics, and using Spark libraries for machine learning and data transformation
• Experience using AI tools to improve developer productivity, such as SDD, agentic AI, Skills, Copilot, or Claude Code
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, or Prometheus
• Proficiency across the software development life cycle, including familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and infrastructure-as-code tools in cloud environments
• Demonstrated leadership experience mentoring software engineers at varying levels
• Preferred: Application development experience delivering complex enterprise investment banking applications for market surveillance, front-office trading, or analytics in FX, commodities, equities, or equity derivatives
• Preferred: Familiarity with Spring Boot microservices architecture and RESTful API development
• Preferred: Experience with container technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
• Preferred: Experience with Kafka streaming
• Preferred: Knowledge of financial products, including futures and options, FX, commodities, equities, and equity derivatives, and of trade lifecycles or order workflows

• Design, build, maintain, and optimize ETL data pipelines using Databricks technologies, ensuring efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage
• Partner with data product owners and business stakeholders, applying strong data engineering, software engineering, and resilient cloud architecture practices
• Architect and implement data lake and data warehouse solutions using AWS services such as S3, Glue, SQS, SNS, Lambda, and EMR
• Collaborate across teams to develop solutions that strengthen the application platform through observability, orchestration, resiliency, developer experience, and automation
• Identify opportunities to eliminate or automate recurring issue remediation and improve the operational stability of applications and systems
• Lead and mentor engineers by providing technical guidance and conducting code reviews
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune data pipelines and cloud resources for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency
• Encourage pipeline reuse and operational simplicity by establishing effective observability standards
