The Water Resources Department is currently looking for a Guilford County Apprentice Program student to work as an Electrician. The person in this position will work with Safety, Maintenance, and Operations. Duties include, but are not limited to, developing safety lockout/tagout procedures and safety operating procedures. Shadowing and working with Electrical staff on basic repairs such as inspections of pumps, valve and piping maintenance, chemical pump teardown and parts replacement, creating, booking labor, booking parts, describing repair, and closing of computerized work orders. Working with Operations to backwash filters, run water quality tests, and complete daily reports. The objective of this position is to learn about the safety, operations, and maintenance of a modern water treatment facility. The employee must have good attendance and should be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, which include but are not limited to bending, stooping, crawling, reaching, sitting, and lifting up to 20 pounds.

This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Guilford Apprenticeship Program (GAP) student
• Able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week
• Valid Driver's License OR must be able to obtain within 6 months of High School Graduation
