Patrol Officer

The City of Somerville is accepting applications for the position of Police Officer. The City of Somerville is located 25 miles from Texas A&M University in College Station, on State Highway 36 South and FM 1361. The population of Somerville is approximately 1500 with extensive growth projected. Somerville Police Departments Jurisdiction is approximately 3 square miles of major highway with moderate traffic. Welch Park Somerville Lake is located in the City Limits, and it’s a tourist spot during season. Officers work 12-hour shifts, rotating every other weekend off, Officers have assigned vehicles, which are also used as take-home vehicles, if applicable. Requirements Minimum requirements: Must be 21 years of age, High School Diploma or Equivalent, Current and Valid TCOLE Peace Officer License. 1 Year prior law enforcement experience preferred, current and valid Texas driver’s license, current and valid vehicle insurance, and able to pass a thorough background investigation, physical, psychological and drug screening. No A/B Misdemeanor or Family Violence Convictions. Location Starting pay: Based on Experience Uniforms, Weapons, Training and Equipment provided. City of Somerville participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 5% employee deposit rate with a municipal match of 2:1.
