Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator Intake
Position may be based in: Lewiston at 1118 F Street Upon successful completion of training, due to Agency needs, this position may transition to remote work from home with required travel to conduct in-person intakes Salary: $22.66 per hour (40 hours per week) Applications will be accepted through 4:59 PM MST on the posting end date. Our Mission To prepare individuals with disabilities for employment and career opportunities while meeting the needs of the employer.Purpose of Position The Vocational Rehabilitation Coordinator (VR Coordinator) for Employment Services assigned to the Intake unit gathers and processes applicant information as the first point of contact for IDVR. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the information obtained to inform eligibility and disability priority determinations. Provides information about Agency waitlist process, scope of VR services available to eligible individuals, as well as referral to other community resources. Minimum Qualifications (MQs): Some knowledge of:
- Human behavior and performance
- Individual differences in abilities, personality and interests
- Learning and motivation
- Cultural differences
- Experience using software tools such as Microsoft Office and other applications, for information tracking, reporting, and managing tasks efficiently.
- Ability and willingness to travel, which may include overnight stays.
- Some positions may require a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle
- At least two (2) years work experience in Vocational Rehabilitation, case management, or working with students with disabilities in an educational or community setting, including experience with caseload tracking, and/or coordinating services and resources for individuals with disabilities; or
- Completion of a Bachelor's degree program in Vocational Rehabilitation, Special Education, Social Work, Psychology or a related field; or
- An Associate degree with one (1) year of work experience as described above
- Experience scheduling, conducting, and effectively completing intake interviews to gather accurate, detailed, and necessary applicant information
- Responds to inquiries regarding VR services. Provides information regarding VR services and processes.
- Schedules and conducts intake appointments for individuals wishing to apply for services. Engages in caseload management for assigned intake caseload.
- Determines whether any student (ages 14-21) engaging in intake has received a Pre-ETS service prior to proceeding with application. If not, provides and logs delivery of Pre-ETS service (e.g. Job Exploration counseling) to students opening a VR case, prior to completing intake. Opens a pre-case in Aware as necessary
- Reviews Participant Rights and Responsibilities with applicant prior to commencing intake interview and obtains applicant signature
- Conducts in-depth intake interviews with applicants for the purpose of collecting and accurately documenting information regarding the applicant including all medical and psychological disabilities, physical and mental limitations, socioeconomic circumstances, legal and employment history, and other potential barriers to employment.
- Uses critical listening skills to elicit additional or more detailed information from the applicant to enable a more complete understanding of the participant's disabilities, personal background, etc. and the potential impact on their employment
- Identifies appropriate resources for disability-related medical and psychological records
- Obtains Releases of Information (ROIs) to authorize IDVR to request medical, psychological, and other entity records, ensuring that authorization is issued prior to sending the ROI, and for contacts to be listed in the case file
- Ensures orientation information is communicated to the applicant
- Ensures all application paperwork is completed, signed and enters information into case management system. Complies with IDVR guidance and policy regarding attachment of records in case management system. Follows agency procedures for applicants that have Social Security benefits. Follows-up to record State Verification and Exchange System (SVES) responses in case file. Clarifies SVES information with assigned Financial Management team member as needed. Sends Social Security Administration (SSA) No Fee Letters to SSA as appropriate. Submits updated SVES requests and updates information in the case file
- Drafts, issues, and/or amends Authorizations for the purchase of medical and psychological records or services to authorize payment to provider, as directed by their supervisor or Eligibility Counselor
- Consults with supervisor to determine whether additional medical/psychological assessment is necessary or review by Medical Consultant. Schedules participant appointments and/or engages in required referral process for assessments, as needed
- Reviews medical records upon receipt from provider to determine the information needed by the Eligibility Counselor to engage in a thorough eligibility assessment. Eliminates redundant and/or irrelevant information in preparation for review by Eligibility Counselor
- Ensures security and confidentiality of all Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
- May be assigned to perform the job duties of any VR Coordinator position, depending on Agency needs
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
